Amendment 43 (passed by Colorado voters in 2006) bans same sex marriage in Colorado. So civil unions are the best we can hope for so far in terms of relationship recognition for same sex couples in some form or another in Colorado.
I know, I know civil unions are not enough and only a half baked cake or a half way measure towards full equal civil marriage, but it is better than nothing! – true?
But when we get the civil union legislation passed and into the Colorado Statute books all signed and effective, then we can push through a constitutional amendment to repeal the 2006 Amendment 43 – to allow same sex civil marriages!
Also a 1992 Constitutional amendment in Colorado is still there and that also desperately needs to be repealed as well since it is unconstitutional!

Why not go the whole hog and vote for marriage equality?
