Ke$ha: I want to kiss Obama for supporting gay rights which are an issue ‘close to my heart’

Singer, Ke$ha has said if she was elected, she would make the “funnest” US president ever, and that she would ensure equal rights for all, including gay and lesbian people, an issue “close to [her] heart”.

Discussing President Barack Obama’s inaguration speech during which he said  “our journey is not complete” until equal rights for gay people is reached, the Die Young star said gay rights was an issue “close to [her] heart”.

She went on to respond to a question of what shed do if she met President Obama, to which she replied: “I’d probably kiss him first.”

“I’d be the funnest president ever,” she said in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter. “Whiskey for all… then I would just encourage him to look at equal rights and animal rights,”.

“Those are two things I feel very strongly about. But especially him addressing equal rights today was moving for me. A lot of my friends and family are gay and lesbian, and it’s an issue that’s very close to my heart.

“A lot of my fans have to struggle with their own issues — and so did I growing up — and anything you can do to help people look at each other in a nonjudgmental way, I think it’s a positive thing.”

She went on to discuss using her celebrity status to stand up for important issues. She said: “Being a celebrity is kind of silly, except for when you get to talk to lots of people about something that’s dear to you,” she said. “And in this case, it’s equal rights.”

Earlier in January, the singer/songwriter spoke out about bullying and being bisexual in Seventeen magazine’s February issue.

The 25-year-old said “I don’t love just men. I love people. It’s not about a gender. It’s just about the spirit that exudes from that other person you’re with.”

At the president’s inauguration on Monday, an openly-gay Cuban-American delivered a poem, after being chosen by Obama.

Delivering the benediction was pro-gay Reverend Luis Leon of St John’s Church, who said that all people “gay or straight” were created equal in the eyes of God.
