Lady Gaga has confirmed that she is featuring rapper Azealia Banks on an upcoming track, despite a recent Twitter feud with Perez Hilton during which Banks said he was a “messy faggot” who should kill himself.

The Born This Way star has confirmed that Azealia Banks, who rose to fame after a Youtube Video of her EP, 212, went viral on YouTube last year, will feature on her new single.

Ms Banks spoke about her involvement on the track, and said: “I worked with Lady Gaga from afar.”

“We worked via email and the internet, we have a song called ‘Red Flame’ and we also have a song called ‘Ratchet’ that… I don’t know what she’s doing with it, she’s going to release it when she wants to release it and – yeah, I’m really excited about it.”

The rapper got into an online spat with blogger Perez Hilton over Twitter, during which she called him a “messy faggot”, and suggested that he “kill himself”.

Reports from some websites suggested that her record label, Interscope, had confirmed that she had been dropped as a result of the argument, but it was later confirmed that this was not the case.

The beginning of Lady Gaga’s new tour was targeted last week by an anti-gay pressure group which hired a plane to fly a banner reading “Not born this way” over her concert for four hours.

Having become known to openly, and actively support the LGBT community, the announcement from Lady Gaga came as a surprise to some fans.

Speaking out after the Pope’s attack on France’s proposals to introduce equal marriage, Lady Gaga said “gay marriage is going to happen” regardless of what the Pope says.

Lady Gaga, who is not exactly shy of making similar public statements of support for LGBT equality, was awarded a peace prize in Iceland by Yoko Ono, in October.

Banks is signed to Polydor, part of Universal Music Group. Despite her relatively modest profile in the UK, the BBC ranked her third in its ‘Sounds of 2012 Awards’.

The single, named Ratchet, is also rumoured to feature Beyonce and Rihanna, Gigwise reported.
