    I approve and second that!

He is the equivalent Martin Luther King for gay men!

There also needs to be a US federal national day for him too (since there already is Martin Luther King day)!

But realistically that will never happen federally in the US!

But California having Harvey Milk Day is a good start!

The trouble is that if the Americans had a day for every one of their heros they would soon run out of days as there are only 365 days in a year (366 in a leap year). Can you imagine a Rosa Parkes Day, Neil Armstrong Day, Walt Disney Day, George Washington Day, Mickey Mouse Day, the list will go on. Here in the UK we do not have public holidays to celebrate individuals as that would be impractical for the same reasons.

  3. The amendment to rename San Francisco International Airport to Harvey Milk-San Francisco International Airport requires the support of five further members of the Board in order to be put to a public ballot in November.

Come on PN, this article has a misleading headline – this is hardly SF planning something.

Presumably no christians will then be prepared to work there or fly there in case they are “promoting” homosexuality.

Why not? The FBI building is named after a Closeted and Hypocritical Gay man: It’d be nice to have one named after an OUT gay man!

That really should be remedied. Hoover was the most repellent, evil, murdering hypocrite that ever lived. If the true story of his and LBJ’s involvement (along with the CIA and mob) in the JFK assassination is ever widely revealed it could come to pass that the nation would be so ashamed of his evil that his name would be removed from the building. That would be Justice!

    1. Silly waspish drivel maligning a brave man, Damian. Was it really necessary? It wasn’t funny. Not remotely

  8. In Houston they have a statue of local boy/ex-president George H.W Bush slinging his coat over his arm and marching through the terminal.

    Bleuugh.

Maybe SFO could go one better and have a statue of Harvey waving from the top of their terminal building. It would make a great sight as you arrived and departed.

  10. What a SanFrantastic idea. Won’t be easy getting it through in the Prop 8 State.

    1. The beauty of it is that it isn’t the state that will be deciding, but the people of San Francisco. Their views on these sort of things are light years ahead of some of those in other parts of the state which aren’t generally so, well, fabulous!
