  1. Is there not anything that can be done about this kind of harassment?

He’ll probably claim it was a passive statement and as such is protected under the First Amendment :/

In america hate speech is protected by law.

      1. Freedom of expression is an important right, even for people we disagree with (no matter how strongly). Don’t try and frame an argument like that, it’s dishonest.

So you’re totally ok with Westboro Baptist Church and their violent hate speech? What about the american pastors who want the government to round up gay people and execute them? You’re ok with that?

          Post a reply →
          1. I don’t think that’s what the poster means at all. He/she is merely acknowledging that some rights are more important than others & that if you want to disagree with this idiot then you can but what you can’t do is take away one of his human rights so he won’t tell you what he really thinks.

    3. Does the USA not have human rights legislation connected to the delivery of service to the public ?

      Post a reply →
      1. Not in all states, and reading around the web it seems PinkNews have got it wrong and the couple were in North Carolina, where there are no protections for same sex couples.

        Post a reply →
        1. PN reported that. The couple were from California .however the incident took place in a small town in North Carolina. I don`t think the owner was speaking about their relationship status. He was writing about their Sexual Orietation to which I believe all states in the Us are bound by Federal laws of discrimination regardless of free speech laws. Ofcourse the restaurant owner was smart he did not refuse to serve them . which would have been a violation of the law. This coward waited until they finished and payed their bill before he announced his bigotry and ignorance. The lowest form of life pond scum..

I notice he made sure he got their custom and money first.

    Post a reply →
    1. Yeah, I was thinking that. So obviously he must have knew what he was doing had the potential to offend because he didn’t risk handing it to them along with their bill, did he? Now what was that biblical quote about the love of money….?!

I vote for the community to hold a kiss-athon outside the cafe. Hopefully this will cause this hateful freak to have an aneurysm or something.

The way he ended his letter saying “P.S. my daughter also was gay. It destroy[ed] her life and my grandson” In other words, your hatred and vitriol did that, not the fact that she was gay.

    What a hideous, hideous man!

  6. What’s with all this end of the world stuff they are all coming out with.

Do they hold meetings and decide what rubbish can we make about them up this week?

Personally I can’t wait for ‘the end of the world’ and ‘the rapture’, the sooner we can get rid of all the religious freaks the better for the rest of us.

Do our First Amendment rights extend to super gluing the locks of this bigot’s restaurant?
    Let’s find out, shall we!

Business must be slow in that place if the manager had time to compose a letter while the couple were eating,

You couldn’t make up sh|t like this.

It really is about time people started actively attacking the religionists and playing them at their own game.

Nope. Martyrdom is hard-wired into the Christian mindset. They WANT us to act against them. Playing the victim whilst acting the oppressor has served them well for 2 millennia. Don’t fall for the bait.

  11. I hope this leads to a boycott of his cafe, what an ass.

    Post a reply →
    1. How about the opposite. Inundate the place, but just order a coffee or a cup of soup. Keep the tables locked up, but the profit will be very small and keep the pro-bigots out. If he writes letters for all gay couples, he will get writer’s cramp.

I’m so sick of these nasty religious types pushing their downright perverse agenda onto respectable people just going about their lives. People can be as religious as they want, but why the need to flash it all over the place and inflict it on decent folk?

  13. The story misses out the best part. It is a seafood restaurant, and we all know what Leviticus says about eating seafood.

This really scares me. It’s not the just the violence and bullying, but the folks who really feel that we’re all going to hell, and have no issues telling you so, after a lazy lunch on a typical day. Imagine what they do with their votes, what they teach their kids.
