This should be good news, but the fact that Italy is only now, in 2013, deciding this just goes to show how far behind the rest of Western Europe they have fallen. Seriously shameful.
Gay adoption is legal only in: UK, Scandinavian countries (except Finland) Spain, Australia, Canada, Argentina…and stop. So, it’s seriously shameful the anti-italian attitiude…Thunbs up for the
hypocritical attitude!
Did you actually read what the court ruling is about? Up until yesterday an LGBT parent in a divorce case would lose custody of their own children!!! Nothing to do with same-sex couples being allowed to adopt.
Some people are so blind they only see what they want. Lastly when Italy starts acting like a nation worthy of respect I’ll happily give it plenty. If you are Italian you should be fighting for your nation to come out of the 19th Century rather than arguing with those who criticise it for being socially backward.

In every another West European state it will be ‘historic decision’. But in Italy, with his traditional ignorance towards ‘formal’ law and eternal rule of Vatican?.. I still am very sceptical. It very probably will rest as ‘special case’ only.
In summer 2011 the same Italian Court, ‘Corte di Cassazione’, has made decision, that same-sex couples are not ‘marriage’ (under article of Constitution of 1947: ‘famiglia e unione naturale, fondata sul matrimonio’; ‘family is natural union, found on the ground of marriage’), but have ‘right to family life’, it means to be recognize by the state as some another form of ‘family’. Way free for ‘civil unions’, ‘domestic partnerships’ or whatever. We are waiting on political action until now.

BTW, it’s also legal in many states of the USA.
Some states in Australia also.
Gay adoption is still illegal in QLD, SA, NT and VIC!
Gay adoption is legal in NSW, TAS, WA and ACT!

This is huge for Italy. Eppur si muove!

Finland does allow gay adoption in SOME circumstances!
So long as the children are yours alone and not someone else’s children!

When will they decide that children are not safe in the custody of the pope and his minions though?
This was not about adoption but about custody.
Adoption and custody are different things.
Shove that it your Khyber pass Mr Pope Vicious 16th. Just wait till Italy accepts marriage equality too.
