This man is a carnival barker, whipping up the mob to sell his product to them. I don’t believe for a moment that even he believes the preposterous drivel he spouts. But he’s become bloody wealthy from it. Which says a great deal for large chunks of the American population (stupid, racist, homophobic, woman-hating bigots).

Ummm, having sex with children used to be the norm in history, brides were 13-14 on average, grooms 25+, and in the Vatican the age of consent is just 12. So what was your argument again?

If an adult tried to have any sexual activity with my child when he reaches the age of 12 , I am not sure I would be able to prevent myself from trying to tear them to pieces.

I have no proof, but I suspect that many of Jimmy Saville’s victims were 14, or there abouts, so my point is still valid – the catholic church normalises paedophilia.

There is a difference between what two consenting adults do behind their own door and what an adult inflicts on a child who is unable to understand or change the situation. Most societies class people as adults from 16 (average age of consent for sex) and upwards. Regardless of gender it is generally considered that adults are able to understand, accept or refuse a given situation. Minors are not.

Giving two adults the right to express their love in a certain way is not the same as giving another adult the right to inflict abuse on a child. The same views this man expressed have been used as an excuse to demonise everything from left handed people to interracial marriage. Left handed people are considered more creative and a more diverse world allows others to benefit from the experiences and cultures of others, it doesn’t meant that within 5 years society will consider allowing marriage or other types of sexual relationships between adults and children.

To get a handle on these Right Wing Authoritarian (RWA) fundamentalists, take a look at the following:

    http://members.shaw.ca/jeanaltemeyer/drbob/TheAuthoritarians.pdf

    A quote from P140…

They are fearful and self-righteous and have a lot of hostility in them that they readily direct toward various out-groups. They are easily incited, easily led, rather un-inclined to think for themselves, largely impervious to facts and reason, and rely instead on social
support to maintain their beliefs. They bring strong loyalty to their in-groups, have thick-walled, highly compartmentalized minds, use a lot of double standards in their judgments, are surprisingly unprincipled at times, and are often hypocrites…

      …and continuing:

But they are also Teflon-coated when it comes to guilt. They are blind to
themselves, ethnocentric and prejudiced, and as closed-minded as they are narrowminded. They can be woefully uninformed about things they oppose, but they prefer ignorance and want to make others become as ignorant as they. They are also surprisingly uninformed about the things they say they believe in, and deep, deep, deep down inside many of them have secret doubts about their core belief. But they are very happy, highly giving, and quite zealous.

      Recognise any of them?

It’s all down to their psychology!

One possible response from an LBGT perspective on Page 242 of above:

“Visible minorities. Along this same line, high Right wing Authoritarians (RWAs) misperceive how diverse [The world] America is. It’s quite natural to think, when you are in the white, Christian, heterosexual, solvent majority that this is a huge majority. Minorities should speak out for their rights. If they don’t, they are (among other things) helping a lot of the majority remain steeped in ignorance. People can learn, but they won’t have a chance if the minorities remain invisible. I know, I know, the high RWAs will howl whatever
chorus their leaders dictate when minorities become “uppity”. But recall the evidence that nothing improves authoritarians’ attitudes toward homosexuals as much as getting to know a homosexual–or learning that they’ve known one for years.”

The article he describes is here

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2013/jan/03/paedophilia-bringing-dark-desires-light?INTCMP=SRCH

It is a very long article which he has taken a small sentence from. Usual tactics.

It starts by actually mentioning an event from 1976, 40 years ago. So it is hardly about anything new like a “movement to normalise paedophilia”. If it was, after 40 years you could say it has already failed.

It is actually an interesting article describing the latest research into paedophile behaviour in an attempt to try and understand it. It discusses two opposing views currently being discussed, that it is genetic or that it is learned. It doesn’t come to any conclusion.

I expect the article is a bit long and detailed for Rush to have read all of it.

Just another small minded conservative who finds himself at difficulty with society because he (without realising) has become society’s difficulty. Just another small minded, unfounded statement because he has no real argument with which to oppose gay marriage. This is a classic last-ditch attempt to rally the opposition. fail. I’m pretty sure, since the vast majority of people go on to have children, that in 20 years time legalising paedophilia will most certainly NOT be on the agenda. People like him defend marriage as if it were a real thing, it doesn’t exist. It’s a set of formalities that humans (and only humans) have, over time, come to accept actually means something. Much like Christianity, something which does not exist, a set of mutual beliefs that humans and only humans have, over time come to accept actually IS something. You know what does exist, homosexuality and it ain’t going anywhere so you better get used to it. Pr*ck.

The only people I hear talking incessantly about paedophilia and indeed incest are the conservative religious right. The more right wing they are, the more likely they are to be calling for these disgusting perversions to be legalised or at very least discussed. i have never heard ordinary people Gay or straight mention it and the recent furore over Savile and his ilk is a clear indication that normal Gay and straight people are rightly outraged by the phenomena… The fact that the US is for the most part one of the worst educated countries on the planet is probably why the interest in paedophilia is so prevalent there and the religious right there are probably the least educated of them all. Limbaugh, O’Relily and Beck are testament to this idea. Surely sane America will do something about these right wing nut jobs before they really do some real harm, maybe even to children. They certainly seem inordinately interested in child sexuality or the idea of it…..

What is worse is that those types get elected by religious nutters, almost always by very conservative republicans and sometimes end up becoming president. You can’t even become president unless you profess a religious belief of the christian variety it seems.
