Gok Wan says he would like to take part in the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, although he insists the show should allow same-sex dance couples.

The fashion TV presenter is keen to be involved in the show, providing he can fit it in with his busy schedule.

He told the Daily Star: “[Strictly bosses] have asked me to take part and I will do it when I get time off.”

However, the 38-year-old added: “Strictly should have same-sex couples. Absolutely.”

Gok helped out on the show last year by giving fashion tips to former Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley, who was partnered with Robin Windsor.

Windsor, who is openly gay, came fifth in the competition with Riley.

The pair were between by 2012 Olympian gymnast Louis Smith, who said his stardom on the show had turned him into a “gay icon”.

Meanwhile, gay former Welsh rugby player Gareth Thomas is currently tackling a new challenge as a competitor in ITV’s Dancing on Ice.

Thomas will skate for the first time next weekend. Pamela Anderson was the first celebrity to be voted off the 2013 series of the ice dance show.
