The X Factor finalist Ryan Clark found himself and jockey Frankie Dettori given the task of deciding which of their fellow Celebrity Big Brother contestants would join them in the main house and which would be banished to the ‘basement’ below.

In his video introduction before entering the house, Clark said: “I’m frightened I’ll get pissed and embarrass myself.” Speaking to host Brian Dowling he said:”This is so much more nerve-wracking than X Factor, it really is.”

Once inside, Clark and Dettori were asked by ‘Big Brother’ to decide whether their fellow contestants made it into the main Big Brother House. They were given various criteria to judge them on such as deciding which one of a pair ‘loved themselves the most’.

Inside the basement, there is no running water, no windows and the celebrities living inside it will have to scavenge for food from scraps left by fellow contestants in the main house.

Jim Davidson, known for making several homophobic comments over the years, was due to be appearing in the series but was absent following an arrest by police yesterday.

The controversial comedian was detained by police investigating the Jimmy Savile abuse scandal yesterday and has now been released.

The 59-year-old “vigorously denies” the claims against him.

Davidson was one of two men arrested on suspicion of sexual offences as part of Operation Yewtree.

Both individuals fall under the strand of the investigation termed ‘others’ and the Metropolitan Police said the allegations are not linked to Savile.

In 2007, Davidson insulted the show’s gay current host, Bryan Dowling, by calling him a “shirt lifter” and a “fucking disgrace” when they were both contestants on ITV’s Hell’s Kitchen.

Rylan’s fellow contestants are Frankie Dettori, Paula Hamilton, Tricia Penrose, Ryan Moloney, Gillian Taylforth, Sam Robertson, Lacey Banghard, Claire Richards, Neil “Razor” Ruddock ,Heidi Montag and her husband Spencer Pratt
