  1. R.I.P. Sir Richard. Not any easy time to have been gay when he would have been a young man.

  2. It’s always sad when a great figure of classical music passes on.

    As a child, I remember having a record of an orchestral suite by him, and it had quite a influence on me, probably part of what pushed me to choose music as a vocation.

  3. I must admit I didn’t recognise the name at first but of course I know the fantastic body of work. RIP.

  4. Having played several wonderful Bennett compositions and arrangements as a high school and college musician, I didn’t know he was gay. It would have made a difference to me as a young man had I known, but in the 1950s and 1960s, there were penalties for such disclosures.
    Eternal is the memory-RIP.
