  2. It’s always sad when a great figure of classical music passes on.

    As a child, I remember having a record of an orchestral suite by him, and it had quite a influence on me, probably part of what pushed me to choose music as a vocation.

  4. Having played several wonderful Bennett compositions and arrangements as a high school and college musician, I didn’t know he was gay. It would have made a difference to me as a young man had I known, but in the 1950s and 1960s, there were penalties for such disclosures.
    Eternal is the memory-RIP.
