  1. Well there you have it the truth is out, as we all know the Gov, nor the Police never, ever, cross my heart and hope to die…Never Lie lol

  2. Sad story. Such a sad lost and a vast waste of talent taken from our security service.

  3. Are they trying to say it was suicide and he locked himself in a sports bag?

Something fishy there – even I can tell.

  4. Robert in S. Kensington 27 Dec 2012, 4:43pm

Very strange how he could have locked the bag and sealed himself in, makes no sense. Poor man, obviously he was troubled about something. I can imagine some of the hateful readers’ comments the Telegraph will print.

  5. But several months ago were there not various professional contortionists swearing that there was no way that Gareth Williams could have got himself inside that bag, then zipped it up, locked it, and then thrown away the key?

So why are their opinions now being ignored?

Is it not a case of the police simply not wanting to spend any more time and energy trying to find out who killed the Welsh cross-dresser?

    1. It all remains a mystery – after those people swearing there was no way he could have got himself in the bag and zipped it up, someone demonstrated that they could do exactly that. So far, it seems to be extremely difficult to work things out in a case so full of contradictory evidence.

      1. Someone demonstrated it could be done? I didn’t hear about that. Well, if that’s true, and given that this chap was very bright and able, maybe he was responsible for his own death.

        1. “But days after the inquest verdict a retired Army sergeant showed how it was possible to climb into a similar North Face bag and lock it from the inside.” http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/9750403/MI6-codebreaker-Gareth-Williams-probably-locked-himself-into-sports-bag.html

  6. ” ‘some agency specialising in the dark arts’ was behind his killing.”

    ROFLMAO

you mean that Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters have been trying to destabilize the muggle world by causing this sort of thing?

  7. Spanner1960 27 Dec 2012, 5:13pm

I’m not going to even question the truth or the motives behind this.

All I am saying is if this is your bag, (pun intended), FFS don’t do it on your own.
There have been way too many deaths due to auto-erotic asphyxiation, and all of them could have been prevented had there been someone else around.

  8. Wonder if certain section of the media have the key to this? It’s rather strange that David Cameron backs away so quickly from the recommendations of the Leveson Enquiry and so easily concedes to the demands of the Murdoch mafia to allow the press to ‘self-regulate’. Do elements of the press have some evidence that connects government involvement to this; bargaining chips in the shape of beans that the prime minister and certain senior MPs don’t wish to be spilled?

    1. Staircase2 28 Dec 2012, 3:19pm

      Well said

  9. “He kept pictures of drag queens on his computer and had £20,000-worth of designer women’s clothes in his flat along with women’s shoes and wigs.”

“In her ruling, Dr Wilcox said there was no evidence to suggest the spy was a transvestite “or interested in any such thing”.”

    Yeah, looks like!!!

    1. hell, I don’t even have “£20,000-worth” of MEN’S clothing in my house!

  10. What a horrible death. Can’t really get my head round it. But if it is impossible to lock the bag from the inside then he was murdered, surely. If not, then we’ll probably never know.
Remember Stephen Milligan, the Tory MP who was found dead in his flat dressed like Frankenfurter with orange peel in his mouth. John Major had to go identify the body.

  11. this is a pointless article. It doesnt matter if he was gay or not, this thing is bigger than sexuality. Spooks dont end up dead just like that ESPECIALLY in their own country. It was definantly not a clean cut murder whoever did this must’ve been anyone from FSB or SVR because if a simple nonce did this he would be in the old bailey

    1. Staircase2 28 Dec 2012, 3:20pm

You do know what ‘nonce’ means right…?

      1. if i can call cat d prisoners that without being prison shanked then i would say it doesnt mean peado where i come from

  12. Why are comments allowed on this article? THe man has a family. RIP

    1. Staircase2 28 Dec 2012, 3:20pm

      Well said!

    2. Spanner1960 28 Dec 2012, 4:56pm

It’s news. People die all the time.
Or would you prefer that they avoid it and get accused of “burying” information?

  13. True, like “sex with (lots of) men doesn’t make you gay”, love for wearing women’s clothes and wigs doesn’t make you a transvestite.

What is wrong with this people? It’s not like we live in stone age. Why they are still in such denial?

  14. Friends and family were upset at speculation that Mr Williams may have been gay and suggested “some agency specialising in the dark arts” was behind his killing.

Yes, either that or he was gay. Pick the most likely.

  15. “He kept pictures of drag queens on his computer and had £20,000-worth of designer women’s clothes in his flat along with women’s shoes and wigs.”

“Friends and family were upset at speculation that Mr Williams may have been gay.”

We’d all know on here that a person being into transvestism does not mean that they must be gay. Perhaps he was gay (I don’t know) and was also a transvestite.

Anyway, poor man – he loses his life and people, including me, are discussing his life on forums and newspapers.

  16. “Friends and family were upset at speculation that Mr Williams may have been gay”.
    Why?
He was found dead in a piece of luggage. Isn’t that enough to be upset about?

  17. GingerlyColors 28 Dec 2012, 12:04pm

If it was a case of ‘self bondage’ going wrong then the death of Gareth Williams is a tragedy and the risks of carrying out such acts especially when you are on your own cannot be underestimated. Having said that I still thing that the unfortunate death of Mr. Williams was suspicious and that a cover-up cannot be ruled out.
