  1. No. It is not. Although the church is much like Nazism – in that millions have died for their moronic bloody ideology and blood soaks every stone in every church from the moment the middle eastern cancer infested the country and spread the savagery of bronze age primitives.

    1. Hysterical Screamer No. 243 24 Dec 2012, 12:17pm

Love it! So true, so true, so true!

    2. Communism, azism, torture, slavery, murder, crime, corruption, paedofilia…

      Oh, no, wait…

      1. Don’t forget assisting SS men in large numbers to escape justice at the end of the war because they were good catholic boys.

        1. Courtesy of fAther Drajanovic, a croation priests. No wonder that Eichmann was found in argentina. and there were many temple bombings there – there is a large Jewish community there. My wifes grandparents first moved there to escape the hate in Europe, prob about 1890

        2. …and there was a large homosexual culture there too especially in the SA .The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, author William Shirer describes Roehm as “a stocky, bull-necked, piggish-eyed, scar- faced professional soldier…[and] like so many of the early Nazis, a homosexual” .

Noticed when the Bishop of York, Dr John Sentamu said “Marriage is a relationship between a man and a woman,” – the gaystapo appeared on the scene with their bully tactics(and rainbow swastika flags)calling him a ‘bigot’ and ‘homophobic’ – he also received racist emails and post from the so-called LGBT ‘community’ .

          1. Ray, you certainly sound as if you are a straight troll…
            Please go and play elsewhere…

    3. To be honest though it’s the same with virtually every belief system, it doesn’t matter whether it’s the Abrahamic faiths, Roman paganism or the Aztec religion, all of them are or were brutal forms of mind control, the same of course was true of Nazism and Stalinism in the 20th century. All of of these religions and political ideologies reminds us of how primitive us humans really are, at best we’re only semi-civilised.

  2. Because the Nazis were all about LGBT equality, right?

    1. And the catholics were all so against speaking out against the holocaust of jews and lgbt people and now this evil reprobate assumes this moral delusion.

      1. 1928 On March 28, in response to the concern of Pius XI and Pacelli, the Vatican’s Holy Office issues a decree condemning Nazi racial hatred of Jews: “Moved by Christian charity, the Holy See is obligated to protect the Jewish people against unjust vexations and, just as it reprobates all rancor and conflicts between peoples, it particularly condemns unreservedly hatred against the people once chosen by God, the hatred that commonly goes by the name of anti-Semitism.”

..for anti-catholic revisionists on here , ignorant of the thousands of priests/nuns murdered or sent to concentration camps it’s time you read some history and not propaganda .

    2. But the did take children away from their mothers and fathers in the name of a cause though…ring any bells?

      1. The only bell I hear ringing is when you bang your head against the wall in frothing bigoted rage. Why don’t you and that other fool Ray (assuming the two of you aren’t actually the same idiot posting under two different names) go make a baby and donate it to your local diocese? Assuming the two of you can find your sex organs without the aid of a roadmap.

  3. If human life is so sacred then why is he supporting homophobia? as homophobia kills and he’s for life then he should be against the homophobes

    1. David Myers 25 Dec 2012, 12:01am

This guy is just a revisionist right-wing (fascist actually) idiot! He obviously does not know history, or if he does he is a practitioner of “the big lie technique”, ironically made infamous by the words of Hitler’s Propaganda Minister, Jeseph Goebbels who stated “Tell a lie often enough and it becomes the truth.” and “The bigger the lie the more they will believe it.” Today’s FOX News and the American tea partiers are expert practitioners of this black art.

  4. And so the christmas message from this canting prick is “peace and goodwill to all men ” but not if you’re gay. This is a direct insult to all of those LGBT who were incarcerated, tortured and killed by the nazi regime .

    1. more like the kill the gays bill still alive in Uganda. The only church to oppose it was the catholic church. But now the bishops support it. Prob orders from their boss. (the church’s typical cames re fighting decent priests etc is to assign them to churches in far flung locations where they may have to go to eg 5 different churches on a sunday.,- this from an ex catholic nun)

In the USA a priest was excommed for doing a gay marriage ceremony a couple years ago

as best as I can find guess who never got excommed – the RATZI leadership of germany in the RATZI era. still ned to check if there is really a thing as “automatic excommunciations, but why isnt there a sign over the vatican gate saying ” we Excommunicated AH etc”……………………..Maybe to prevent the public from connecting the dots.

  5. Dangermouse 24 Dec 2012, 12:02pm

and here was me thinking the Catholic church supported Hitler and his thugs 100% during the war. I must have been reading the wrong history books.

    1. not only supported that horror show but created the conditions for it to happen. The BS about the blood libel biz and the christ killers.

Through much of recorded history the church has just plain hated Jews, as does german pope RATZInger

in 2009 He UNEXcommunciated bishop williamson, a holocaust denier

Need I say more except take this madman to a reconstituted Nuremburg court.

      http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/25/world/europe/25pope.html?pagewanted=all

      1. More anti-catholic lies and dangerous revisionism. You are ignorant :
        http://www.catholiceducation.org/articles/persecution/pch0229.htm

“The hatred and contempt for men, women and children that was manifested in the Shoah (Holocaust) was a crime against humanity. “This should be clear to everyone, especially to those standing in the tradition of the Holy Scriptures…” Pope Benedict (BBC report 12 February 2009)

Bishop Williamson and his group(society of St Pius X)(he was expelled from there anyway) are not Catholics and are not part of the Catholic Church .

  6. Well that’s a nice little message at xmas “peace & goodwill to all men” but not if you’re gay . what a canting little prick . Insultingly disrespectful to all the LGBT that were incarcerated, tortured, killed by the Nazis in concentration camps

  7. Robert (Kettering) 24 Dec 2012, 12:09pm

A bit rich coming from a member of a church currently run by an ex member of the Hitler Youth; whose Pope in the Second World War was very cosy with the N@zis; a church that sat back and allowed thousands of LGBT people be murdered by the N@zis during the war for merely being LGBT!

Nasty, nasty bishop and member of an equally nasty church!

    1. You are ignorant and a dangerous revisionist .

      http://www.catholiceducation.org/articles/persecution/pch0229.htm

      http://www.catholictradition.org/Priests/dachau.htm

      http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/archive//ldn/2008/apr/08041107

this is a quote from what you call a ‘nasty church’:

2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

  8. Well, well Churchill fought the Second World War to stop those dastardly Nazis imposing gay marriage on Europe.

  9. Hysterical Screamer No. 243 24 Dec 2012, 12:15pm

A Catholic bishops DARES to say such things! This is a man who has spent his adult life rubbing shoulders with dozens of priests whom he has known to be gay.

So close and yet so far. Such hypocrisy. Such mental delusion.

And his “cathedral” by the way is a sad and pathetic little church only. Last time I popped in it was full of local Philippino maids. So I don’t think we need worry to much about his influencing anyone important with his midnight mutterings.

    1. More like 6000 anything but celibate sex starved priests

Ttha is per SNAP the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests in the USA.

    2. This is an interesting post. I wonder how many times you have visited his previous parish or served the poor in that particular area. Or are you just ballooning?

  10. Bishop of Shr..ivelled up belief and thinking…

He should recall Book of Samuel David and King Saul and then Saul’s son Jonathan.
Or maybe Luke Gospel where Jesus is asked who may enter the Kingdom of heaven (Not the club, but then again…) and he answers that it includes those who ‘become unable to enter women and those who are born unable to enter women’. Usually regarded as a ref to prostitutes/eunochs but seems pretty obvious also includes little ‘ol us too!!

  11. Yet another religious freak who probably helped priests to molest little children. He serves as a reminder of how inhuman religion is.

    1. That is a very libellous statement.

      1. The truth cannot be libelous, my dear.

  12. Robert in S. Kensington 24 Dec 2012, 12:23pm

This moron seems to forget that Hitler was a catholic, that several high ranking Nazi officials were catholic who oversaw and supported the final solution, the holocaust in which more than 15,000 gay people died in the death camps.

The same church which has been sexually abusing boys and girls for centuries (not a recent phenomenon). If I were in his church tonight, I’d stand up and spell it out for him. I’d nail the evil bastard and I wouldn’t care if I were arrested for disrupting a religious service. It would be well worth it. A so called ‘celibate’ man, an expert on human relationships and marriage no less. What a joke.

    1. Mumbo Jumbo 24 Dec 2012, 1:59pm

And don’t forget that Hitler was supported by the Catholic “Centre Party” and it’s Catholic voters not to mention that Rome subsequently signed a “Concordat” with the newly elected Nazi government.

    2. Marcwebbo3 24 Dec 2012, 3:23pm

I agree Robert….and people wonder why we are still ‘up in arms’ when someone says something against us….that religious morons like this are still spouting their venom means that we still have to carry on making our voice heard that we are ‘normal’ just like everybody else and we are natural and we will not be silenced by bigotry and we will fight back

  13. Jason Feather 24 Dec 2012, 12:25pm

Wow, I’ve had a good year! Managed to be responsible for the floods, hurricane Sandy & the Newtown shootings and now I’m a Nazi as well! Looking forward to 2013 & being responsible for Armageddon lol ;-)

  14. Religious freedom? Well, clearly only for the C of E as they’d like to deprive other denominations of their religious freedom to marry same sex couples if they choose to.

Civil marriage is none of the church’s business. Every day straight people get married in civil marriages and many of these people will be divorcees, adulterers, non-virgins, atheists, non-Christians etc etc – all things disapproved of by the church. Presumably allowing these people to get married is ‘N@zi fascism’ too??

Disgusting that a bishop would use Christmas to spread hate and lies. He should be ashamed of himself.

    1. Iris, forgive me, but did you not mean to say “Religious freedom? Well, clearly only for the Catholic Church as they’d like to deprive other denominations of their religious freedom to marry same sex couples if they choose to” ?

  15. I think the church has now fallen fowl of Godwin’s law (also known as Godwin’s Rule of Nazi Analogies or Godwin’s Law of Nazi Analogies! Godwind law is an argument made by Mike Godwin in 1990 that has become an Internet adage. It states: “As discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1.” In other words, Godwin observed that, given enough time, in any discussion—regardless of topic or scope—someone inevitably makes a comparison to Hitler or the Nazis & therefore looses the argument! Gays 1 Church 0

    1. while funny on its own, and too true most of the time, Godwin’s Law runs afoul of sometimes ridiculing comparisons that are valid.

Take for example the American “christian” radio hostess who claimed LGBT people were not “human” and thus not deserving of protection under the American Constitution. A comparison of her comments to the policies that lead to the German people being convinced by the Nazis that exterminating Jews was “normal”, is an inevitable and fair comparison.

In this particular case, Godwin’s Law would make light of a frighteningly real comparison.

      1. David Myers 25 Dec 2012, 12:07am

I totally agree and reject “Godwin’s Law”. Who the hell is Godwin anyway – an appologist for the Nazis?

  16. The nazis worked by dehumanizing Jewish and gay people etc, likening them to rats etc. Now the line from certain ‘Christians’ appears to be that gay people are not human. Tell me, who is amounting to nazi facism?

    1. the nazis also killed all the gays they could find. Prob about 50000

Sieg Heil to the church of rome. I know I did the right thing when I made a cross out of two dildoes.

      1. That was only the gay men. The amount of lesbians who were killed remains unknown due to the fact they were grouped with the “undesirables” and not branded purely on their sexuality.

    2. Is that a bit like how you use the term bigot then?

  17. Yeah, shove it up your arse, you vicious old bitch. And Happy Christmas.

  18. Kathryn Howie 24 Dec 2012, 12:39pm

Another little gem of delusion from the virgin worshiping Pauline death cult, in a week where their uber leader muses about reality and the downfall of the world if gays are recognised as human.
Just STFU bishop, you are only making yourself look ridiculous and deluded to the point of madness.

  19. Poor misguided soul.

    1. He knows he’s lying ! He been doing it all his life !

  20. Same sex couples getting married ‘threatens the sanctity of human life”

    Really??
    Just another ordinary hateful bigot

  21. On the following page, you can select “Bishop of Shrewsbury” in a drop-down menu, and send the man your view of what he has said.

    http://www.dioceseofshrewsbury.org/contact-us

My message has been worded in such a way that he will probably think I am one of his parishioners ;-) and might upset with him!

    1. . . . and mighty upset with him!

    2. Robert in S. Kensington 24 Dec 2012, 1:37pm

Thank you for posting the link, Eddy. I’ll give him a piece of my mind. I hope he has a rotten Christmas and an extremely unhealthy new year.

    3. Robert in S. Kensington 24 Dec 2012, 6:05pm

Eddy, I didn’t mince words. I let him know what I thought of him and his church citing some references of what it has done to people throughout history, including the Inquisition, the annihilation of native tribes in Latin America, complicitness with the Nazis in sending millions of Jews and 15000 or more gay people to their deaths and the recent decades old, even centuries old sexual abuse scandal. He’s the epitomy of bigory and hypocrisy and so is his church.

    4. Robert in S. Kensington 24 Dec 2012, 6:21pm

I sent an email and it came back to me. Obviously, they have filters to stop certain emails reaching them. Cowards!

  22. That dude looks like he’s munched down on more than a few penises in his day.

  23. Does anyone know at what point ‘reasonable comment’ becomes ‘hate speech’?

    1. Seems there are different criteria depending upon which group is being attacked, and by whom.

  24. This is the reason I dumped celebrating Christmas years ago. No one even knows when (or if) Jesus was born. But what we do know is that it certainty wasn’t the 25th of December.

What I find even more bizarre is how these right wing extremest religious morons come out with the same old alarmist drivel thinking they are saying something new and insightful, when in fact they are merely repeating the same old vitriolic codswallop as their American right wing counterparts.

    It’s not even original.

Does this dangerous dumbo even have an IQ?

It’ll be a call to arms next. But of course, they won’t be pulling the trigger, will they? They just lay out the guns and grenades for some weak minded idiot to pick up and do the dirty work for them, whilst the purveyors of hate can walk happily away and say ‘I didn’t do it. Don’t look at me.’

It’s called Henry the 8th syndrome.

Maybe someone should tell Mark Davies what that is.

    The brainless twit.

    1. I agree with all you say, but I do suggest you celebrate Yule or Saturnalia – the late-December twelve-day feast of pre-Christian times, when people simply celebrated the return of longer days, the promise of spring, and more sun!

Every year at this time me and my partner definitely celebrate the slow departure of horrid winter, with some special drink and tucker, presents, and making contact with old friends and family. It’s great. No carols allowed. No mention of Bieby Jesus!

  25. If anything this is an insult to the millions of people who perished under this brutal and evil regime. I don’t know where people get this idea that giving equal rights to one part of society takes way the rights of others, to me it’s just another example of bigots not being able to admit to their bigotry and what better way to do it than to accuse somebody else of doing the persecuting. How cowardly must these religious people be if they have to place the blame on somebody else? I think that they should just be honest with themselves and just tell the truth, which is that in reality they’d like to see gay people marginalised and removed from society. Funnily enough that’s the very idea that Hitler had for the “undesirable” elements in society.

  26. Meanwhile, in other news, one of his fellow priests is being banged-up for kiddy porn. If it wasn’t so utterly disgusting, it would be risible.

    http://freethinker.co.uk/2012/12/24/pope-denounces-gay-marriage-on-the-same-day-that-a-deacon-was-arrested-for-child-porn/

    1. …and the LGBT ‘community’ don’t do this kind of thing ?

Google LGBT Scotland Jamie Rennie ….for the worst abuse in british history. But I suppose because he campaigned against so-called ‘homophobia’ he’s alright ?

      1. What, precisely, is your point? You’re dredging up ONE example against COUNTLESS instances of proven abuse, over centuries. You’re pathetic.

  27. Har Davids 24 Dec 2012, 1:43pm

Let’s stop talking about delusion, these people are truly mad and should be put in padded rooms, far away from the rest of mankind. What are we to make of these remarks, that Stalin and Hitler were gay-friendly in a very roundabout way? But now that the cat is out of the bag, will there be alterations to this sermon?

  28. Always nice with some Christian love on Christmas eve.

  29. Bringing the Nazis or Hitler into you argument? Sorry, you’ve lost!

    1. David Myers 25 Dec 2012, 12:12am

Claptrap. Only a Nazi sympathizer would seriously promote this ignorant “Godwin’s Law”, or a brainless fool!

  30. Mumbo Jumbo 24 Dec 2012, 1:50pm

Q: Which of the following fascist leaders was supported by the Roman Catholic Church?

    a) Hitler;
    b) Franco; or
    c) Mussolini

    A: All three.

    1. Great examples! How about the Vichy government. Fascism is always in cahoots with the church.

  31. He’s obviously lining himself up to be the next Arch Deckchair Attendant of the Titanic, sorry, Archbishop of Westminster

    1. Exactly, Just trying to score brownie points with the great whore of Babylon.

  32. hltler was raised a catholic. the current catholic pope was part of the n4zi youth. catholic Archbishop Konrad Gröber was a member of the n4zi SS. And the catholic church supported the n4zi regime, who murdered gay men and also thought homosexuality was an abomination. I think everyone knows whose beliefs are more like n4zi fascism.

  33. How worried are these nobodies getting!!

  34. Came under Maine 24 Dec 2012, 2:43pm

Of all the systems of religion that ever were invented, there is no more derogatory to the Almighty, more unedifiying to man, more repugnant to reason, and more contradictory to itself than this thing called Christianity. Too absurd for belief, too impossible to convince, and too inconsistent for practice, t renders the heart torpid or produces only atheists or fanatics. As an engine of power, it serves the purpose of despotism, and as ameans of wealth, the avarice of priests, but so far as respects the good of man in general it leads to nothing here or hereafter. [Thomas Paine, The Age of Reason]

    1. Thank you for that quote! Very apt and very very true. After the first few lines I was going to congratulate you on your wonderfully expressive abilities with the language! :-)

      1. David Myers 25 Dec 2012, 12:15am

Well, we can congratulate “Came under Maine” for their knowledge of history and literature instead then. Thanks, Maine for a truly relevent quote!

  35. FFS go and have a word with your God and get some help

  36. Kathryn Howie 24 Dec 2012, 3:37pm

Can I make a suggestion to our Prime Minister – send the Vatican ambassador packing back to Rome with a flea in his ear, BZZZZZZZ

    Greetings of the Season

    1. Robert in S. Kensington 24 Dec 2012, 5:42pm

Yes, Ireland did it last year! Severed ties altogether.

  37. Garry Cassell 24 Dec 2012, 4:20pm

Another child molester…fighting for his rights to continue molesting…just to please the F****** top molester hoping to get a promotion…Cardinal…

  38. Thinking of all the LGBT people who died in camps… I don’t think I could be more offended!!!

  39. .Surely it is Christianity that has distorted the whole future of humanity.

    1. Christianity, along with all the other delusions: Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Judaism, Ayyavazhi, the Baha’i Faith, Bon, Buddhism, Cheondoism, Druidism, Druze, Ancient Egyptian religion, the Etruscan religion, the Hellenic Polytheism of Ancient Greece, Hermeticism, LaVeyan Satanism, Mandaeanism, Manichaeism, Meher Baba, the Native American Church, New Age religions, Orphism, the Rastafari movement, Ravidassia, Samaritanism, Scientology, Shinto, Sikhism, Spiritism, the Sumerian religion, Swedenborgianism, Taoism, Tenrikyo, Thelema, Unification Church, Urantianism, Wicca, Yarsan, Yazidi, Yoruba, Asatru, Atenism, and Zoroastrianism.

  40. There are millions of gayCatholics in the world…and equal amount of gay catholic priests…how dare he say that we are equal to Hitler..Gay guys as well as priests went to the gas chambers…what is the church so afraid of…i just do not understand all this hatred towards us….he will be up for the new Archbishop of Liverpool…God help us…

  41. GingerlyColors 24 Dec 2012, 4:57pm

How can allowing gays to marry be compared to the murder of tens of thousands of gays along with millions of Jews in the Nazi concentration camps? Can the Bishop of Shrewsbury please explain but not until his LSD trip wears off.

  42. Pavlos Prince of Greece 24 Dec 2012, 5:03pm

Uruguay will have same-sex marriage law on December 26 (vote in the Senate). And this country has nothing to do neither with Communism or Nazism. Just wit clerical-nationalistic dictatorship in the 70-es…

  43. The man’s just vile.

  44. It is to be hoped you will not use such extreme lanaugage in comparing the proposal for gay marriage to the nazis. THOSE OF US WHO LIVED THROUGH THOSE TERRIBLE DAYS WILL FIND THIS REPUGNANT, Many thousand gay people lost their lives in the concentration camps. Many senior nazis were RC’s involved in these cases. The terrors of the holocaust cannot be compared to two people who want to express their love for each other and dedicate their lives to each other. It is so much better than the futility of casual furtive sex.
Have a care bishop as the extreme lanaugage used by some RCs must mean they are running out of sensible well founded arguments.
Pray that this season will bring a growth in good will by you even to the many who will disagree with you.

    1. David Myers 25 Dec 2012, 12:20am

I agree with the spirit of your critique, but cannot agree with your comment “must mean they are running out of sensible well founded arguments” since they never had any to begin with!

  45. They already lost argument so much time ago and now are only mumbling nonsense.

  46. They know they are losing and it is making them spout crazy and poisonous lies. To quote something from a culture wrecked by these monotheist megalomaniacs – whom the gods destroy, they first drive mad.

  47. How do these shameful excuses for piety get away with this nonsense. A bureaucrat is
is a bureaucrat. The Nazi were noted for following orders. Obedient servant of the Pope.

  48. Chris Kimber 24 Dec 2012, 6:37pm

Shameful. And here was I thinking Christmas was meant to be about love, peace and goodwill!

  49. How Christian of him!

  50. If anything is fascist in nature, it’s religion. Islam and Christianity, particularly.

  51. “These inhuman ideologies would each challenge in the name of progress the received Christian understanding of the sanctity of human life and the family”

Which of course the catholic church would not dream of practicing against the perceived threat of the perverts that are, gay people….looks like we’re all going to hell – again!!!

    1. you can’t beat good will to All men (and women) at Christmas eh?

  52. Michael Breen 24 Dec 2012, 7:02pm

Dying old twat. Nothing reverncial about this pedophilic old fool. Shut your mouth, your breath smells like shite!.

  53. George Broadhead 24 Dec 2012, 7:16pm

The bishop refers to Hitler undermining
religious freedom. This is an outright lie.

The truth is that Hitler and the Nazi regime bolstered both Protestanism and Catholicism. One good example is the notorious concordat they made with the Vatican which guaranteed the Catholic Church complete freedom.

In his speeches Hitler made many references to Christianity and God. In one he declared: “We are a people of different faiths, but we are one. Which faith conquers the other is not the question; rather, the question is whether Christianity stands or falls…. We tolerate no one in our ranks who attacks the ideas of Christianity… in fact our movement is Christian. We are filled with a desire for Catholics and Protestants to discover one another in the deep distress of our own people”.

There are numerous photos of Hitler shaking hands with clergy and of clergy giving the Nazi salute.

Soldiers wore a belt with the buckle inscribed “In God We Trust” and there were Christian chaplains.

  54. If I lived near his church, I’d get a loads of friends together form a picket.

  55. PeterinSydney 24 Dec 2012, 7:56pm

Dear Bishop, get out of our lives, you old stick in the mud.

  56. The bishop should clean up his own house before judging others. A parish priest of his diocese Fr Phil McGovern was exposed in the Sun for trawling the internet in search of gay lovers under the username Happi Fella. Recently another of his parish priests Fr Peter Hooper was jailed for five years for performing a sex act on a teenage boy. Then there is the ongoing investigation into historic sexual abuse at the bishop’s St Ambrose RC College in Hale Barns. The bishop utters hate filled words when it seems his own clergy can’t live up to their vocations. Typical of the hypocricy of the catholic church and the mad rantings of bishop Dark Mavis!

  57. The bishop should clean up his own house before judging others. 1. They’re just scum.

  58. Hundreds of thousands of clergy and religious worked to death in labour camps, churches raised to the ground and an aggresive state backed form of atheism imposed?!?!? I missed all this and I now all I feel not a little guilty…

  59. People need to show up at that church and boo the priest when he uses God’s house to spread hate.

  60. No it ain’t!!! The church is the equivalent of Nazi fascism, because it seeks to destroy a certain group of people.

    Shut the fack up.

  61. Will the 80% of LiibDem Catholic MPs, the 48% Labour Catholic MPs and the 56% Conservative Catholic MPs who are not supporting equal marriage continue to do so or would they prefer to agree with the Bishop of Shrewsbury?

Will the Tory MP of Shrewsbury Daniel Kawczynski who is holding a publc vote on SSM next month simply pander to the Bishop of Shrewsbury’s view on equal marriage?

On a postive note 20% of libdem catholic MPs, 43% of catholic tory MPs and 52% of catholic labour MPs are standing up against the Catholic church and have already declared support for equal marriage.

Personally I’m disgusted with the 80% LibDem Catholic MPs not speaking up for the LGBT community. They should know better. For shame MPs Kennedy, Pugh, Mulholland and Teather!!!

  62. This sort of hatred and bile can only come from fear. The church needs to get over its terror of gay people before we can have a reasonable conversation with them

  63. ‘“These inhuman ideologies would each challenge in the name of progress the received Christian understanding of the sanctity of human life and the family. Winston Churchill, Britain’s wartime prime minister, a man without clear, religious belief, saw in this deadly struggle nothing less than the defence of Christian civilisation.

    Winston Churchill was Jewish

    1. Winsrton churchill was not Jewish – he was anglican but kind of an agnostic

BTW he was actually an anti semite

  64. Oh well. It’s past midnight and it’s now Christmas Day. This bishop has had his time to implore God from his pulpit and not only am I not even singed by a thunderbolt of heavenly wrath, I’m still a gay man who is likely to be able to get married (bizarre though it might be) should I want to in the not-too-distant future.

If God existis, S/He is clearly of the opinion that Bishop Davies has wasted a perfectly good Christmas sermon.

I don’t want to be mean-spirited here, but I hope drunks threw up in his porch.

  65. what else would you expect of a church that is hq in rome. Nasiism came not from
Germany but from Italy. Which for most of its life untll about 1900 was a collection of papal states. I think it was the Lateran treaty that let the church have its 107 acres as a state, and then Italy became one country.

Too bad they didnt locate the vat over an active volcano.

    1. Just as a nerdy point in passing, the Papal States at their greatest extent around the beginning of the 18c didn’t cover even a quarter of modern Italy.

Pity they didn’t build Rome a bit nearer Vesuvius. It would be great to see the Vatican go the same way as Pompeii.

  66. From the very church which hated the jews for a milenia that led to the holocaust, by another nut case man AH who grew up in germany. in the 1930s. Who btw got Pacelli then nuncio to MUnch, about 1920 into supporting his broke new party financially. Again – his initials were AH.

And a German pope who in 2009 UNexcommunicated a holocaust denier, Bishop Williaimson

PLS spread this far and wide on other english blogs. This maniac and his church are actually supporting marriage equality with their nuttiness though they don’t know it

their goal of course is to get gay people murdered .

buy the book “Hound of Hitler” by
Gerard Noel . try ebay Amazon etc

    1. Just in case – Hiter was born and grew up Austrian catholic

stalin went to a russian orthodox seminary in his youth. Welcome to someparts of xtianity. Perhaps even more vile then Islam

  67. From the very church which hated the jews for a milenia that led to the holocaust, by another nut case man AH who grew up in CAtholic Austria. in the 1930s. Who btw got Pacelli then nuncio to MUnch, about 1920 into supporting his broke new party financially. Again – his initials were AH.

We are truely finding out that when you push some anti gay people far enough, their “true nature” comes out. they get crazier and crazier.

Insanity in the name of God.

    1. “Belonging to the National Socialist Party of Hitler is irreconcilable with the Catholic Conscience.” Cardinal Pacelli 1930

In his classic Nazi history, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, author William Shirer describes Roehm as “a stocky, bull-necked, piggish-eyed, scar- faced professional soldier…[and] like so many of the early Nazis, a homosexual”

  68. Being a lover of freedom, when the revolution came in Germany, I looked to the universities to defend it, knowing that they had always boasted of their devotion to the cause of truth; but, no, the universities immediately were silenced. Then I looked to the great editors of the newspapers whose flaming editorials in days gone by had proclaimed their love of freedom; but they, like the universities, were silenced in a few short weeks….
    .
Only the Church stood squarely across the path of Hitler’s campaign for suppressing truth. I never had any special interest in the Church before, but now I feel a great affection and admiration because the Church alone has had the courage and persistence to stand for intellectual truth and moral freedom. I am forced thus to confess that what I once despised I now praise unreservedly.
    .
    - Albert Einstein, Time magazine, 23rd December, 1940

Think I know where the extremists are – all on here !

On 11 November 1950 the Rev. Cornelius Greenway of Brooklyn wrote a letter to Einstein which had also quoted his alleged remarks about the Church. Einstein responded, “I am, however, a little embarrassed. The wording of the statement you have quoted is not my own. Shortly after Hitler came to power in Germany I had an oral conversation with a newspaper man about these matters. Since then my remarks have been elaborated and exaggerated nearly beyond recognition. I cannot in good conscience write down the statement you sent me as my own. The matter is all the more embarrassing to me because I, like yourself, I am predominantly critical concerning the activities, and especially the political activities, through history of the official clergy. Thus, my former statement, even if reduced to my actual words (which I do not remember in detail) gives a wrong impression of my general attitude.

      1. On the day of Pius XII’s death in 1958, Golda Meir, Israel’s Foreign Minister, cabled the following message of condolence to the Vatican: “We share in the grief of humanity…When fearful martyrdom came to our people in the decade of Nazi terror, the voice of the Pope was raised for the victims. The life of our times was enriched by a voice speaking out on the great moral truths above the tumult of daily conflict. We mourn a great servant of peace.” Before beginning a concert of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor Leonard Bernstein called for a minute of silence “for the passing of a very great man, Pope Pius XII.”

    1. …and putting a ring on a same-sex attracted couple does not make a marriage , no matter how draconian the State meddles and distorts it’s meaning .
