Dennis you are right, these Anonymous people are using Guy Fawkes because they are extremist Catholic terrorist. Anonymous are Christian terrorist who want to convert us all to being Christians only they are doing it covertly by hiding who they are. They also know they need to act pro gay to fool people. What they are really doing is trying to make themselves look good using PR or public relations like this to get agreement to try and get rid of an embarrassment to the Christian religion called Wesboro Church. They think they are fooling people and some people are being fooled. There are people like you who know who they really are. Christians hiding behind mask of a Christian terrorist. Why do you think they wear the mask of Guy Fawkes, the extremist Catholic terrorist? If they were really out for good they would not hide who they are, after all they claim to be the majority and everybody knows in the Western world Christians are the majority.

Anonymous are the terrorists reading this article.

WBC haven’t broken any laws, anonymous have. Our civilisation is nothing without laws.

Here lies anarchy. Sorry to say it as I detest what WBC do but in a free country the law is on their side. To actively destroy a church or any organisation for that matter is what I would expect in Saudi Arabia.

As the quote goes, you may despise what they say but all of us on this website of all places should defend their right to say it.

Otherwise we just play into their hands. The people most pleased with this article and the comments will be WBC.

Terrorism is illegal, correct? What have WBC been charged and found guilty of?

Hacking is illegal. Registering a death certificate for someone living? I’m only guessing but that is likely to be illegal.

You may not like what WBC do but if we change the law to suit our opinion of them what protection will you have when someone anti-gay registers your death or destroys your computer system.

Their skill is in using the law, it’s no accident she’s a lawyer and they are very careful not to break the law.

But they despise our society, lust like Al Qaeda do and they hope to destroy our society by turning us against our own laws.

You are all playing right into their hands if you flout our own laws to get your way. We need to be way cleverer than them and find legal ways to put them out of business.

Al Capone never got done for murder he got done for tax evasion. Think about it.

I’ve heard the term freedom fighter and the word terrorist and I have heard them transposed depending what side of an argument you are on. They are meaningless words when used like that.

The KKK would call themselves freedom fighters, our governments called Nelson Mandela a terrorist in the past.

Not all laws are good laws but who made you the one to decide? We change our laws like all the other things we do in a democracy, democratically.

The WBC are p**ssed of for precisely that reason, because they can see they are losing the argument. The angrier they get the happier I become.

The First Amendment of the United States Constitution protects the right to freedom of religion and freedom of expression from government interference. The notion of Free Speech is extremely important and this sometimes means that you have to put up with people saying things that you disagree with. However, the 1st Amendment only guarantees the right to freedom of speech, it does not guarantee that you will be free from consequences.

The US Supreme Court’s decisions and jurisprudence has consistently recognized that there are indeed some limits on the right to freedom of speech. (Most famous example is that a person does not have the right to erroniously cry “Fire!” in a crowded theater. These has also been some recognition that the government has the right to ban “hate speech”. The problem is in the definitions of hate speech.

            With every right comes responsibility.

Abuse your rights, lose your rights… We have people in jail around the world for abusing their rights, so we must be acknowledging that rights have limits.

Anti-bullying and anti-harassment laws would also seem to reflect this concept.

Morally and ethically the WBC is wrong; they hurt the most vulnerable of people by preying on those already suffering.

Under law, it was okay to murder people in World War II concentration camps… morally and ethically they needed to be stopped.

Morally and ethically WBC is preaching the same hate that Hitler did, and if legally they are protected, then that does not make them right.

Rights have responsibilities, and you can not reason with hate mongers.

      2. “How do you abuse freedom of speech. It is an absolute. “
        No it’s not.

            That’s a somewhat fallacious analogy.

Freedom is a relative quality; one compares a given individual’s freedom to another and states that one is more free than another. Assuming a quantifiable “freedom” scale, then the phrase “half free” is a perfectly meaningful one.

Your suggestion that freedom is absolute doesn’t work. No one would allow absolute total freedom – that would be anarchy and lawlessness. You wouldn’t allow someone freedom to murder or maim, so why allow them freedom to incite hatred? We surely shouldn’t be “free” to do either, as both are detrimental to society.

We aren’t asking WBC to shut up because we don’t believe in liberalism, we’re doing it because we care more about society’s harmony and existence more than absolute freedom. A society needs a balance between positive and negative freedom to function effectively.

There is a large degree of naïveté in your arguments. No right is absolute… even your right to life itself is challenged in many places in the world if you take the life of another.

Societies only work if the rights of all are respected and WBC fails to respect the rights of everyone. You do no have to be gay to be attacked by their hatred, simply lose a loved one under horrific circumstances, and they may show up on your doorstep to unleash their vitriolic hyperbole upon you.

I am not American, but I would protect the parents and families of the Newtown massacre if I had the knowledge and technical skills. I applaud the efforts of “anonymous” in this endeavour.
