  1. Ulster Presbyterians. Leading the way in ignorance and bigotry.

Wrong. He is not an Ulster Presbyterian. Wrong. I know him, he’s not a bigot, he just struggles with the gay marriage thing. Other than that he accepts gay people and has gay friends. I myself am gay.

  2. When will they learn that its not IF we get equal marriage but W”HEN….the tides are turning and the likes of Mr. ‘Dark Ages’ Harbinson will be seen for the backward thinking bigots that they are.

Wrong. He is very forward thinking in many aspects, he believes in a shared future and is very in touch with his Irishness. He is not a bigot, I know him, the word is too often thrown about, If he had voted pro gay he would have been betraying his constituents, just like the rest of the Alliance party did. Democracy must be upheld.

Well, I’m sure he’ll be very happy in that company. The Alliance Party is actually better off without him.

  4. So he’s joined a party which wants to start another civil war over how many days a year they hang up a flag.

If they just hung the rainbow flag up instead, the people of Northern Ireland would be a lot better off.

  5. The Alliance Party is very well rid of this self-seeking would-be politician. His claims of ‘integrity’ ring very hollow indeed. If Mr Harbinson thinks for one moment that the Alliance Party is “increasingly out of touch with the vast majority of people in Northern Ireland” he’s merely demonstrating his own ignorance and his total lack of political nous!! Interesting that his resignation was via e-mail to AP HQ at 4.30pm on a Friday afternoon [and he appeared at the DUP Conference the next morning] and now this announcement when people are concentrating on Christmas not politics …. the coward’s way of breaking the news!!!! Integrity? Anything but!!!

  6. Another political lemming launching itself over the edge of the cliff proving it can defy gravitaaaaayaaaaaahhhhweeeeee splat!

  7. The DUP is welcome to him. Perhaps the Alliance Party can now purge the remaining few bigots from its ranks, rather than just waiting for them to jump ship.

I am disgusted by your comments. Adam Harbinson is a good man, he fights against religious abuse, he’s not your typical Christian, he does not believe in church, and he does not think gays are going to burn in hell….He left the party because they did not have a pro gay manifesto so therefore they betrayed their voters with this move, Alliance made a blunder with the flag case as well. Also, he is not a Presbyterian, he doesn’t have a denomination. The Alliance Party are pathetic, and have weakened because of this betrayal. Everyone is entitled to their views, you sound like militant gays…
