This is about as meaningful as labour coming out in support of same sex marriage after the other main players have. Too little too late.

And it’s never too late. These people carry enormous influence. The ongoing battle in the US is with public opinion.
The ongoing debate about same-sex marriage is certainly influencing people, often for the better. I hope now that Newt Gingrich has come round to the idea of marriage equality that he will have a go at being nominated for the Republican Party’s Presidential candidate in the 2016 election.
