A 46-year-old man accused of raping a lesbian, having previously told her he was gay, has been jailed.

Samir Mansour, a chef originally from Tunisia, had pleaded not guilty to rape, sexual assault, false imprisonment and making threats to kill at his home in Westmeath, Ireland, on January 8, 2010.

The International Business Times reports Mansour received two sentences of nine-and-a-half years for rape, three years for threatening to kill his victim and six years for false imprisonment.

Mansour was given a one-and-a-half year suspended sentence and all will run concurrently, meaning he will serve eight years behind bars.

Judge Iseult O’Malley said his victim was left terrified, suffered from internal injuries and had nightmares, panic attacks and flashbacks of the attack.

Mansour met his victim in a nightclub in Westmeath.

The woman, who was 19 at the time, told Mansour she was a lesbian and he told her he was gay.

Although she did not believe him, she thought he seemed nice and accepted an invitation to a party at Mansour’s house.

When she arrived and realised no one else was coming, she tried to leave but was attacked.

Mansour raped and orally raped his victim, then threatened to poke her eye out and kill her.

He was found guilty of the attack on 7 December.
