  1. Lets hope that the Baptist moron church will not disturb his funeral… but I doubt they will loose such a chance to be disgusting as usual.

  2. Michael Duggan 18 Dec 2012, 10:57pm

    R.I.P a true hero.

  3. A sad loss. RIP Spencer.

  4. R.I.P Spencer. I never knew you, but the world is much better, hopeful and healthier place for having had you for in it for such a short time. Sweet Dreams

  5. A true pioneer and one of the last of a very rare breed indeed of a like we will unlikely see again.

    RIP Spencer.

  6. “If I have one piece of advice for young, aspiring activists, it is to always hold on to the joy, always make it fun. If you lose that, you have lost the whole battle.”

Wise words whether you are young or old. With so many haters getting column inches, we should remember how good it is to be alive and capable of loving and caring about others. He loved and cared, worked for the cause and to improve the lot of others. But I think he was saying that if all we do is daily duty without making time for the fun in life, we might forget what we’re striving towards.

Note to PN: can you intersperse the occasional GOOD NEWS story, so we acknowledge the progress he and so many others have and are making.

    1. “If I have one piece of advice for young, aspiring activists, it is to always hold on to the joy, always make it fun. If you lose that, you have lost the whole battle.”

No problem, here it is: Santa also exists!

  7. Spencer you have touched the lives of millions, most not even knowing it, nor do they realize the benefits they are enjoying due to your hard work and diligence. May you rest in peace and let your life and accomplishments be celebrated and used as a model for others to try to achieve.

  8. Great work, I and so many others owe a great deal to people like Spencer who worked so hard & was able to influence the scientists of the day to help in the development of a class of drugs that changed the face of HIV treatment & saved many many lives.

They say onlyt the good die young – his passing seems to bear witness to this! Sweet dreams

Another shining star that burnt very brightly and was taken away far too soon.

RIP Spencer. The world is a much poorer place without you.

But you will be remembered and very much missed.

  10. So sad. Such a handsome man and working for the good of the community. A great role model.

  11. GulliverUK 19 Dec 2012, 1:06am

I feel like I was there in spirit – such an honest and heartfelt account.

    I always think of this line when we lose people in this way;

“My heart has joined the Thousand, for my friend stopped running today.”
from Watership Down – so very many parallels with our struggle.

  12. Not all angels have wings but all are marked by thier compassion and care for humanity manifested in your life and work..
Rest in Peace in the knowledge that you left the world a better place for your being in it.

  13. Jock S. Trap 19 Dec 2012, 9:01am

A sad day and a loss of an inspirational man. He will be missed but Never forgotten.

  14. What a wonderful guy wish i had the privilidge of knowing him. Our very own gay hero.
    RIP Spencer

  15. Paul from Tacoma, WA 19 Dec 2012, 11:45am

    RIP you will be missed!

  16. I confess I have never heard of him before now. He appears to have lived his life in an exemplary manner. If we praise people like this (and they genuinely deserve it), then maybe others will be attracted to following in his footsteps.

    1. Perhaps the lamest pseudo-romantic comment I’ve read in a long time! Hopefully noone feels attracted to following in the footsteps of the deceased regardless of how “we” (who???) evaluate whether an individual genuinely deserves praise.

      Merry christmas!

    2. Perhaps the most lame and pseudo-romantic comment I’ve read in a long time! Hopefully noone feels attracted to following in the footsteps of the deceased regardless of whether “we” (who???) evaluate whether that individual deserves genuine praise or not!

      Merry christmas!

  17. Very Sad, I really hope the young people today realise that people are still dying from HIV / AIDS. Safe sex is so bloody simple.

  19. Rest in peace, our Prince. If love alone could have saved you, you would have never died.
    God broke our hearts today.

  20. Staircase2 20 Dec 2012, 4:36pm

    Bless you, Spencer
    Rest in peace x
    God Bless

  21. Drugs R. Toxic 20 Dec 2012, 11:57pm

Sad but true… Another glaring reminder of “the power of those drugs” … that is, their undeniable mitochondrial toxicities, which will inevitably slowly kill anyone who continues to consume them overtime.

  22. My hearts broke for this brilliant disturbed moron. Oh, sorry, I mean the Baptist moron church. Wait, I thought we were tolerant? Guess someone forgot that mantra! Moron! Heaven or Hell. Take a guess.

  23. I did not know him just knew of him. What an amazing human being. Working so hard to make the world a better place. Such a sad loss.

  24. larry Kramer 21 Dec 2012, 3:27am

he might have been a gay.
    I dunno…..

  25. Crystal Meth PNP =AIDS 21 Dec 2012, 3:30am

  26. I am so sorry that he lost his life. I pray that he is in heaven now. AIDS is a serious matter & ppl need to pay attention. He didnt deserve to die so young. R.I.P Sweety, I’ll pray for you

  27. OldSchoolBus 21 Dec 2012, 12:25pm

This man was someone that only comes along once in a life time. He had the courage
to live on the cutting edge, open and true to himself and others and made a difference
in his life and people all over.the world and
some he helped never knew who he was till now. God bless him and may he rest knowing he was loved by many.
