What we are seeing in all the countries having this debate is a terrified church that has seen members dwindling and now see all their unearned privileges being wiped away.
They were so powerful that they became complacent and none of the churches really addressed the real issues like child abuse because they felt they didn’t need to.
They never saw that it was their own corruption and rotten smell that pushed people away. Now they are snapping back like rabid dogs cornered by a big net.
Interesting that those in support are identical to the number in the UK, 60%, although I would imagine it could be much higher in both countries.
Interesting too that on both sides of the channel, the opposition are all reading the same script. I wonder if there is any orchestration on the part of American anti equal marriage groups in all this such as the National Organisation for Marriage?
