  1. It shouldn’t be a matter of culture, it should be a matter of human rights. And it’s EQUAL marriage. If we can get the general public to adopt this terminology, maybe they, too, will see it’s about equality more than anything else.

Maria Miller is the equalities minister and is pro equal marriage. The opposed minister is Edward Leigh. A bit confusing in the article

      1. Ah, thanks for clarifying.

  2. David Cameron needs to punish any Tory MP who votes against equal marriage.

    Bigotry is unacceptable.

Being opposed to equal civil rights for a minority group is bigotry, regardless of how these vile bigots like Edward Leigh claim otherwise.

Edward Leigh and his out of date ways should have no position in parliament!

Just exactly why is bigot Leigh requesting this? He’s already vowed to vote no. No amount of written protections for bigoted cults is going to appease them. I suspect he’s going to use the moment to try to foment more opposition. I hope Maria Miller sticks it to him, hits him between the eyes and makes him look like the bigoted fool that he is.

  6. He’s the idiot who said you shouldn’t muck about with marriage because it’s “been this way for centuries”. So I’m presuming he’ll be wanting to repeal the divorce laws and the Married Woman’s Property Act as those are “mucking about” with how marriage was centuries ago.

No, of course, he won’t. He’s another bigot totally obsessed with gay people and looking for someone to bully and denigrate.
