Alex Baker, the afternoon presenter of GaydarRadio, has left the station after five years.

The 26-year-old’s final show was last Friday and he has now taken up a new position with Brighton’s Club Revenge, as a marketing manager, having already been a permanent DJ at the LGBT venue for several years.

Baker, who lives in the city, will also help with the running of Brighton Pride 2013.

Along with presenting an afternoon and weekend show, the DJ played a key role in creating the station’s on air sound.

In a statement, Baker said: “After five years at GaydarRadio, it’s with a tear in my eye that I move on to pastures new. I’ve had a fantastic time and worked with some amazing talent, both on air and behind the scenes.

“In the last year alone, interviewing Fatboy Slim (over a cup of tea at his beach-front house, in my home town) was a dream come true.

“I’m particularly grateful to Robin Crowley who took the risk of hiring me as a 21-year-old student and put me straight on air. At a time where most other radio groups are reducing their pool of talent and making on air staff redundant, I think this is something that should really be commended.”

The station’s Head of Radio, Robin Crowley, has now taken over the DJ’s afternoon slot.

Andrei Harmsworth, the showbiz editor of Metro, who presented a weekly Sunday show also left the station last month.
