Three AIDS activists have been arrested following a naked protest outside the office of the Republican House of Representatives speaker John Boehner.

The three women who were arrested were with a group of equally naked men who had painted the words “AIDS cuts kill” on their bodies. Accompanying clothed protesters chanted “People with AIDS are under attack. What do we do? Fight back.”

Although the three women were arrested by Capitol Police, the four naked men left without any action.

One of the women arrested, Jennifer Flynn, 40, of New York City told Associated Press: “People with AIDS are sick and tired of being pushed over the cliff. We need to make sure they stop going after people with AIDS.”

The protests were arranged to coincide with talks to avert automatic spending cuts in January that could harm HIV and AIDS patients on Medicaid.

A study released by the US Government yesterday revealed that 72 per cent of young people with HIV/ AIDS are men who have sex with other men and that 60 per cent of young gay men do not know their sexual health status.
