  1. “On Friday, Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard how staff removed the ex-Celtic player because he is banned for life from a number of pubs and clubs in the Scottish capital.”

    How CHARMING he sounds.

A scot made to pay a fine!!! I hope tv cameras are there to document that, a Scot parting with cash is like Halley’s Comet, a once in a lifetime event.

As a Scot who pays The Macmillan Cancer trust every month I take exception to that.

He must not like the tingle in his belly/groin when he sees someone to whom he is attracted.

  7. This guy has been ban from every pub/club in Edinburgh for years! Very talented footballer, but he’s pissed his career up the wall. Surely a jail sentence was merited here? Well done to the bouncers for saying he made homophobic remarks, not that it made much difference to the sentence.

When women turn him down he probably calls them lesbian.

    29 years of age?

He just needs to grow up.

I thought the Scottish Parliament brought in a hate-crime law in the last couple of years. It was Patrick Harvie who done it using a Member’s Bill. It seems that this homophobia hasn’t been taken very seriously by the Scottish justice system. An £800 fine is far too lenient. Homophobia has to be stamped out and this has done nothing to help combat it.

      http://www.patrickharviemsp.com/2009/06/green-bill-on-hate-crime-passed-by-parliament/

It was passed in 2009. The article I link to above has a quote saying:

“The Bill will improve the way the courts deal with these crimes. If it’s shown that the motivation for an offence was hostility and ill-will based on sexual orientation, transgender identity or disability, that will now be taken into account and the sentence be able to reflect that.”

Clearly this has not happened in this particular case. It seems that passing this hate-crime law was a complete waste of time.
