  2. One of very few inspirational sportsmen that made me able to believe in myself, no matter the pressure people placed on me due to my sexuality.

Wow! He’s lived about 5 lives so far. The guy is a ‘real trooper’ as they say. Kudos to him, we could do with a few more like him.

  4. I had no idea he’d had such a horrible childhood, poor guy. I hope in years to come rather than focusing on what went wrong, as people do when depressed, he’ll be able to see how much he’s achieved and be happy with it.

  5. I was shocked to find outabout his battles with addiction in the past, but it is great to know he’s dealing/dealt with it and is on form.

He seems to be a genuinely decent guy and he looks great in Speedo’s, so what’s not to like?!

  6. Yeah but it is a bit of a cliché… absent dad, hates mum, depressed pot-head, druggie, bullied at school, couldn’t come out because of his sport…

Saying that, he is still very hot and very sweet. I get trouser movements every time I see his video singing Family guy!

More proof that not every hetero should be allowed to have children, much less raise them, in spite of what the religulous say. Yes, he is a hero and has overcome hardship – I gladly give him all he is credited for! But this idea that only str8′s should be allowed to have children is disproved here once again. Sorry for the tangent, but the idea that gays shouldn’t be parents has popped up a lot lately in the American news, and I’m tired of it!

  8. ..well it’s almost getting a pardon. In other words if you have a affluent job/career people tend to except the fact your GAY more so than if you’re not.

  9. Wow Matthew Mitcham has been through so much already in his young life. I can’t wait to get a copy of Matthew’s autobiography. I agree with Matthew that not every gay man or gay celebrity needs to be an activist. Matthew is just doing his own thing, living his own life.
