The (mostly) men running groups like the AFA and the FRC are paid six figure sums for their “work”. Tony Perkins is paid about $175,000 annually for his post, and that will exclude the public appearance fees and printed works that he is producing (trading on his name as the leader of the group, a self perpetuating cycle of hatred).
Changes in the cultural zeitgeist, as well as federal law, will put him out of “business” so naturally he will resist and lie as much as he can because it is his meal ticket.

Actually I think what is tearing America and other countries apart (if anything is) is the historical and ongoing breach of trust by members of the church, an institution that millions look(ed) to and trust(ed) for guidance and support, who seemingly cannot keep their hands off young children.
For a section of society that has preached a path of righteousness in others, the record of those preaching on behalf of the church in relation to abusing children is truly shocking.
It undermines the very fabric of the church and terminally taints and message that the church has to offer.
As an organisation that has not even paid lip service to protecting the rights of children to live free from sexual abuse it has given up the right to preach morality to others.
Religion long ago lost its purity of message and its direction – if it finds it again it can maybe breach morality to others but until then ….
