Video: Tony Perkins: Same-sex marriage is tearing America apart
The firebrand media opponents of gay rights have been taking to the airwaves to denounce Tuesday’s historic equal marriage victories in several US states.
Tony Perkins, the president of the anti-gay Family Research Council, who in 2010 said homosexuality was linked with child abuse, has now described same-sex marriage as being similar politically to abortion because both acts are “unnatural”.
According to the pro-LGBT campaign group, Right Wing Watch, speaking on a cable TV show, Perkins said:
“It’s unnatural for a mother to take the life of her own child, it’s unnatural for two men to be married, it’s unnatural for two men to be married.
“And even among the un-churched they get it – it’s basic biology, it doesn’t work, and when you look at the ramifications for society…there are significant problems and they will become more pronounced I think over the next decade.”
