  1. For the religious-freak hate-mongering bigots, the Mayan 2012 end-of-the-world scenario comes true. Now we have to wait and see how many will accept it and move into a factual world, and not let our guard down because we all know there will be hold-outs, too many of that mind-set simply can’t make-nice with the reality around them. These folk are likelier to get even more nasty, even more hysterical, who will surprised if we are treated to endless tirades about end-of-times and evil has taken control, etc etc, blah blah…It is not time to let our guard down, not at all.

President Obama’s re-election is a watershed for LGBT equality, but it didn’t happen in a vacuum. LGBT groups knew from Stonewall on that political power was needed and they set-about to do the necessary networking that would represent to American society that being gay was more than just “sex” and that gay relationships are valid and worthy. What is taking place now- and the Obama Presidency has magnified results- is the normalization of homosexuality in American society.

For a brilliant summary on the American gay community’s progress, I recommend
Alex Ross’ “Love on the March” in the current issue of the New Yorker:
    http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2012/11/12/121112fa_fact_ross.
Ross grew up in the Greek Orthodox Church and also brings a unique perspective to the religious right’s attempt to influence the condemnation of LGBTs in American society.
