The Metropolitan Police have launched an appeal for information following the death of two men after they collapsed in a London sauna.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that a man, who was in a critical condition in hospital, has died.

The incident happened last weekend at the Pleasuredrome sauna on Cornwall Road in Waterloo.

Emergency services responded to a call that three men had collapsed at the venue at 8.15am on Saturday, 27 October.

One of the men, aged 39, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man, aged 46, was taken to hospital but died on Monday.

A 37-year-old, with non-life threatening injuries has now been discharged.

On Tuesday, the management of Pleasuredrome said in a statement that they were “shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic events of the weekend”.

Further tests are due to be carried out on both of the deceased – one source has suggested the incident is likely to have been drug-related.

Police are appealing for a man seen entering the venue with the 39-year-old man to come forward.

He is described as white, aged 25-35 with brown hair and a goatee beard around 6ft tall with a slim build.

Detectives are said to be concerned for his welfare.

Anyone with information or witnesses are asked to contact Lambeth police on 0208 721 3597 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
