The media circus of LGBT-supporting stars facing the legal wrath of anti-gay opponents in Russia’s St Petersburg shows no sign of dying down, with predictions that Lady Gaga will be next.

The Born This Way star is due to perform in the Russian city in December and Nikolai Alexeyev – the first person to be found guilty of breaching St Petersburg’s homophobic censorship law – says she is likely to follow in the footsteps of Madonna, who is now facing legal action for doing the same thing.

Earlier this month, a Russian court sent a summons to the New York home of the Material Girl, with opponents seeking around £6.7 million from Madonna and from the company that organised her August show.

The pop star gave out pink wrists bands during the performance and vowed to show solidarity with Russia’s LGBT community.

Madonna reportedly asked the crowd to: ”Show your love and appreciation to the gay community. We want to fight for the right to be free.”

Lady Gaga, who is not exactly shy of making similar public statements of support for LGBT equality, was awarded a peace prize in Iceland by Yoko Ono, earlier this month.
