Boot the b\/ggers out of the EU,

They are not fit to be amongst civilised people.

    1. They are not members of the EU though. They are a candidate for membership but are still many years away from that.

Throwing them on the scrap-heap now because of rising violence is surely not the best approach?

      1. If only we could take this attitude with African countries.

Which Macedonia is this though….FYR Macedonia or Greek Macedonia?

    1. The image of the flag and mention of the capital, Skopje would be a give-away.

Eastern Europe’s politicians are playing the “blame others” game in order to distract their people from their own countries’ problems. This is the result.

Human beings acting as human beings have always acted.

I fear, the final (or just first?) ‘match point’ for gay rights in Macedonia was 2010, when Macedonian government, perhaps ‘cosmetic’ reaction from Brussels, has refused to include sexual orientation in the new anti-discrimination law. What we have now, is just logical conclusion of it. Macedonia still have many problems with his Albanian ‘minority’ (30% of population) and, of course, with Greece in the conflict about his name and historical identity (Greece even block until now the EU and Nato membership of this poor country at the heart of Balkans). Not very good conditions for gay rights. Not now and not in this decade, I think…

Sadly none of the countries around Macedonia seem to be in any way better when it comes to their LGBT citizens. Or anywhere to the north-east for that matter.

Western Europe is a rare island of sanity in a very anti-gay world.

Exactly! But even here, in Western Europe, situation still is very fragile, too fragile (I have in mind France, for example, and all this homophobic protests in the streets against gay marriage now and until spring). Maybe sometimes its even better to forget or ignore it and simple live in (a little schizophrenic) gay friendly (self)illusion. When its possible, of course.

Oh, let’s hope. Americas, not just in the north, are in great progress. Australia. North America and Australia are parts of the Western world, of course. Even in China, India, or even Nepal. Read about the great changes in Nepal.

  5. Our prime minister is against us, he’s concerned that the children will grow in “unnatural” enviroment and depopulation will happen but he is stupid. I’ll have to move out from Macedonia if they don’t make our life easier.

    1. Pavlos Prince of Greece 24 Oct 2012, 6:09pm

He is not stupid, but bigot (as absolutely majority of politicians in Eastern Europe). And bloody attractive men. Sorry, but its true… Good luck for You, Mark in Macedonia or United Kingdom!

When someone is concerned about children, he should be concerned about ALL chlidren. In a hostile enviroment, SOME children, those who start to realise their homosexual orientation, are brought-up in conditions of moral extinction and chronic physical and mental molestation. This is way out from any kind of values. Gay rights are based on values. Liberty, equality, quality of life for all.

Dimitris T, from Greece. Let’ s hope.
