  1. ‘He also was subjected to “supervised” bathroom visits because church leaders feared he might be masturbating.’

    I’m shocked at reading this.

What further depths of depravity will the church sink to?

    1. Probably made him wear boxing gloves in bed – freaks.

  2. What can you expect from people that are okay with mulitating infants in the name of a god.

  3. WantsToKnow 22 Oct 2012, 7:44pm

The former pastor is denying it because he sees a lawsuit on the horizon.

As far as what this church is accused of doing goes… the Mormon chuch did the exact same thing for many years.

All in the name of “Jesus”! Hallelujah!

  4. Ok so you are being held against your will by a bunch of religious nutters, traumatised and assaulted- and they seriously think you’d pop out for a crafty one??

  5. This is NOT ‘The’ church, it is A church of a particular religion. Let’s not start hating on the good people out there because of some bad ones. As far as mutilating in the name of god, it would be a false god. God wouldn’t want that(in my opinion) ever. The pastor may deny if he is not aware of what is happening. Let’s see what other information surfaces before we pass judgement. IT IS HORRIBLE. I am Gay and a Christian and the church I assist would never approve of it let alone do it, but that is religious bigotry and probably worse, Hate crime, Monsters, NOT Christians no matter what they call themselves. You can dress and pig and put lipstick on it but it’s still a pig. They are as extreme as the terrorists we are fighting from outside. Different action but terror none the less to communities. I hope they lose their tax exemptions for not having the control to stop this and if t=more is proven I hope all involved or with knowledge of the act go to jail for a very long time and jail

    1. But, Maurice, they ARE Christians. It’s no good you complaining on a Gay website about your faith being judged. When every Christian who disagrees with these ignorant attitudes steps forward to denounce it THEN I may see Christianity in a different light. As a Gay/tolerant Christian you are in a small minority. You are an apologist. Shame on you.

      1. “As a Gay/tolerant Christian you are in a small minority” Not true, actually Cal. This very site, PinkNews, reported just a few months ago that more than 63% of church-going Christians in this country support gay marriage. I’m sorry, but I don’t see how 63% is a small minority. Can you enlighten me concerning your maths?

        1. Cardinal Capone 23 Oct 2012, 1:16am

          Totally agree.

        2. THIS country? Who said I was just talking about this country? Add the Africans and North, Central and South Americans, and all the Christians in Russia, Eastern Europe and Asia. What happens to your percentage then? The article Maurice commented about was about an event in North Carolina, which is in the US – not the Home Counties.

    2. You are simply falling into the old trap of saying that people are not Christians if they don’t practice your brand of of it. The point is that Christianity is so complex and incoherent that everybody can find something or other appealing in it. That is why it has survived so long and remained popular against all rational argument.
On the main point, if these allegations are substantiated these loons should be locked up.

    3. David Myers 24 Oct 2012, 8:27am

Maurice, it is up to you as a True Christian to call out these bigots. We (gay people) will do it too, but it is your religion that is being tarred with the hatred of the bigots, so step up to the plate man. You may find you have a lot more allies Christian, other religions, and athiests as well.

  6. This is the kind of controlling behaviour you’d expect from sociopaths (though the looney fringes of certain cults and religions harbour plenty of them).
I hope Lowry takes them for every penny they have, and that the perpetrators get some state-endorsed prison time of their own, cause it’s a basic violation of his human rights.

    1. Cardinal Capone 23 Oct 2012, 1:15am

Don’t forget it’s America, colonised by Puritans who found England too liberal and unwilling to obey them – they may have a right of religious freedom to beat up their followers. Can’t say I remember Jesus being said to do anything like that though! Not very Christ-like behaviour.

  7. Can this incident be used as evidence in California, to shoot down the opposition to the state’s recent ban on ‘conversion therapy’?
    I hope it can.

    1. Actually, it can be if the lawsuit is successful. The majority of cases tried here in the U.S. use past precedents as a foundation for their particular case.

      1. Well. Thank God for that!

  8. I think the punishment for those extremists should be an eye for an eye .

Force them to watch porn of the same sex,and have them watched at all times etc……see how they like it .

    1. The trouble is they would probably like it… (but would never admit so, of course)

So many of these people obsess about sex, including gay sex, then feel guilty and take out their own issues on other people.

      1. I know they did a study , they got 20 homophobic men and 20 men who were fine with Gays ,and they all watched a mins worth of Gay porn ,and the Homophobic guys got the most aroused …..

Well we know that those Extremists won’t get punished .

      2. David Myers 24 Oct 2012, 8:29am

The erection meter doesn’t lie! LOL

  9. What a shocking story. The people who did this are sick – in both senses of the word.

  10. Are we surprised tht the former pastor of that church is denying the allegations?

  11. What’s to “discuss”? Another hateful bunch of hypocritical Southern “Christians”. This only stops through education; education that starts in elementary school. The short & the long of it is that ALL people have to be equal, or none of us are free.

  12. With all the other ‘sins’ listed in the bible, why are these people so obsessed with homosexuality? Is it because they are … erm … obsessed with homosexuality? It’s time the world understood that the REAL drive behind homophobia is self-loathing and the fear of inner-longings. “Show me a homophobe; I’ll show you someone gay, in denial”. Homophobes use religion as a screen behind which to hide their bigotry.
