It’s a sad commentary when money is a factor in pushing a piece of legislation, but that’s the American way.
I hope the people of Maryland vote YES. The thought of putting one’s rights to referenda is repugnant. I’m thankful we don’t have such a system in the UK, although C4M and it’s gang of hatemongers would strongly support one for our own equal marriage debate. However, in their blatant bigotry, they wouldn’t want a referendum to disempower the state church or abolishing state funding of faith schools no doubt.
Pretty shocking that some people would want to take equality away from others – even more so than trying to stop them gaining them in the first place. And not for the first time in the USA We went down that road in Europe 80 years ago……
While I laud his support of gay rights and the fact that he organized Mayors Against Gun Violence let’s not forget that he also worked against the Occupy Movement and is one of the 1%, that in most instances he is a conservative Republican.

Good work Mayor Bloomberg. It will no doubt help the Maryland campaign and I hope that others in high profile positions will be able to follow suit.
Good luck to those in Maryland fighting to keep the bill.
Good man!

Excellent Mayor Bloomberg!
I did not know he supported marriage equality as a Conservative Republican!
