Just another ,sadly, backward country controlled by a biggoted dictator…

    1. Your racism Garry Casswell is pathetic homophobia is a GLOBAL PROBLEM. In the UK conservatives don’t want gay marriage. And gay bashing occurs in the UK. So I do not understand why you feel to act like as though the UK is superior to Russia. Different cultures view homosexuality differently.

        Oh get some damned perspective!!
When was the last time you saw a dozen masked men invade a gay bar and beat up it’s occupants?

UK gay rights is virtually complete, sex marriage is just the icing on the cake, and homophobic violence is still comparatively rare compared to many other violent crimes.

If you think it is so bad here, why don’t you fck off to Moscow and then you will really see how far this country has come.

  2. No doubt this will be absent from any Russian news, or the gays will be presented as anarchists with their attackers hailed as heroic, or something. Really sickening country.

    1. For the former USSR countries like Russia or Ukraine it is no surprise.
Failed states with only “national” idea – death to gay people.

  3. Disgusting! Violence like this is inexcusable. It can only be an attempt to intimidate LGBT people and try to drive them underground.

How insecure must the attackers be to not be able to live alongside some people just because they’re different from them?

  4. This reminds me of how the UK police would behave towards us in the 80′s when they raided gay bars. How times have changed! Hopefully Russia will change in less than 30 years..

      Er. Please elaborate.
When and where did police raid British gay bars?

  5. Almost a return to the days of the former USSR days of police state and censorship!

This is according to another source… the seventh attack this year,it is feared other attacks have are not being reported for fear of reprisals.

A very sorry state of affairs for a country which on one hand can boast of being home to some of the most prolific composers, dancers and talent in past times… and denies rights and recognition in present times!

  6. Glass in the eye? Ouch, that is brutal. I hope the woman is ok, and not premanently damaged from it.
I guess that since it’s Russia, she’ll be handed a bill, while the person responsible will be handed a medal.

  7. That There Other David 12 Oct 2012, 7:37pm

Russia is quickly rolling itself towards barbarism on all fronts.

  8. Let me guess – these “propaganda” laws would also deem it “propaganda” for people to speak out against violence and hate towards LGBT people?
