  1. What are Stonewall currently doing to ensure that marriage equality legislation will appear before parliament by Christmas?

    Post a reply →
    1. Well I had an email from them asking me for money to support their equal marriage campaign at the beginning of this month so I sincerely hope their using that money to get a bill produced and for that money I’d really like to see more that a few london buses running around with a small reference to SSM on ther blurp ……

      1. Why are they being so secretive about what they are doing again?

Did they learn nothing from the Ben Summerskill / Lib Dem conference debacle?

Stonewall desperately needs to become more transparent in their agenda; as there remains a strong stench of self interest and lack of accountability about the group.

Frank Ocean? Exactly what has he done just by coming out?

    Post a reply →
    1. To be fair, when you consider his industry – i.e. hip hop, seems fair to consider his as a bigger step than other famous people coming out

  4. I have to wonder at times at the commitment level of the Stonewall organisation. I don’t begrude them being there but all to often its attitude to current LGBT issues is either late, lacking or both! They have become an Outrage-Lite (very Lite) group who seem to revel in the dinner and awards side of luvving up to celebs and political figures but lack the affirmative action and verbal responces the LGBT community often requires when under attack. We command no dedicated minister or political figurehead which is why most LGBT legislation takes so frustratingly long to implement. Stonewall should be there to take up that void. Alas it does not always seem to be up to the job!

      “become”?
They always were a bunch of self-serving sycophants that loved sucking up to the limelight, but were never prepared to get their hands dirty with the real day-to-day problems of gay life.

As many know, I am no way a supporter of Peter Tatchell, but I have to hand it to the man that at least he gets stuck in at the sharp end and really tries to make a difference. Stonewall just hang around the periphery, like some bloke looking out of a window at a fight going on in the street.

Stonewall’s shortlists should be as follows:
    Gay Person Of The Year:
John Barrowman – actor, TV presenter, singer and all-round entertainer.
Dr. David Starkey – outspoken historian who certainly blows the traditional stereotypes of gay people out of the water.
    Gay Allies:
    Lady Gaga and Madonna.
    Homophobes:
    President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran.
    Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe.
    Pope Benedict XVI.
Ugandan MP David Bahiti who is tabling the ‘Hang Gays’ private members bill.

What’s John Barrowman done of note recently? Or Starkey for that matter.
I can think of quite a few lesbians, but not a single gay man that has done anything particularly outstanding for some time.
