The Big Gay 10K challenge is taking place in central London this weekend.

The community event is a light-hearted attempt to raise funds for LGBT support groups.

It’s billed as a “joyous romp through some of London’s most beloved sights” and takes place on Sunday 30 September at 11am.

Money raised will go towards LGBT charity London Friend, which celebrates its 40th year this year and PACE, which works towards promoting LGBT health and wellbeing in the capital.

Starting at the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, the route follows the Albert Embankment towards the historic Lambeth Palace and on passed the Houses of Parliament before finishing back at Vauxhall Bridge.

The route is fully accessible to wheelchair users and pushchairs.

The Big Gay Village Fete will then take place in the afternoon.

There will be performances from comedienne and Mock the Week star Zoe Lyons and singer/songwriter Laura Catlow.

Music powerhouse Lucie Burns, (otherwise known as Lazy Hammock or Hermione) will also take to the stage.
