The openly gay former American Idol contestant, Adam Lambert, has said he doesn’t care about what Paris Hilton had to say about gay men.

When asked what he thought about a recent controversy involving Ms Hilton, he said: “I’m not touching that one,” he said. “She’s not worth it,” reported Radar Online,

Mr Lambert, who found fame on American Idol, recently became the first out gay man to top the US Billboard album chart with the LP ‘Trespassing’

Paris Hilton was recently recorded by a cab driver in New York whilst having a conversation with a gay friend.

On the recording, she said: “Ewwww…gay guys are the horniest people in the world…they’re disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS…I would be so scared if I was a gay guy…you’ll like, die of AIDS.

After the conversation was reported by US media, a representative for Hilton released a statement saying: “Paris Hilton’s comments were to express that it is dangerous for anyone to have unprotected sex that could lead to a life threatening disease”.

Ms Hilton said, in an apology issued to GLAAD:

“Gay people are the strongest and most inspiring people I know. It is so wrong when people bully or put down others for being gay. No one should have to go through that.”

The controversy didn’t go unnoticed, however, as Viacom-owned gay-interest cable TV station, Logo, dropped a 2007 documentary about Ms Hilton from its schedule on the back of what she said.

Bret Easton, the author of American Psycho, tweeted about the comments, saying that he agreed with Ms Hilton: “I kind of agree with Paris Hilton…As someone who has used Grindr Paris Hilton isn’t that far off.”

Back in July, Mr Lambert said in an interview: “America is in the midst of this big civil rights movement. It’s beautiful to see how people are powering through and I think the timing of that and my notoriety is a privilege.

In 2009, 1,500 US television viewers complained about Lambert kissing a male dancer during a performance at the American Music Awards.
