Video: Madonna praises Obama on gay rights and then calls him a ‘Muslim’

Madonna has declared her support for President Barack Obama but surprisingly appeared to be confused by his religion.

Ahead of November’s election, the singer urged her fans at a concert in Washington to vote for Mr Obama last night in a speech about the country’s civil rights movement.

While praising his commitment to gay rights, the 54-year-old remarked of there being a “black Muslim in the White House,” adding “that’s some amazing shit”.

Before taking office and throughout his presidency, right-wing conservatives have repeatedly accused Barack Obama of lying about his Christian faith.

Earlier this month, Mr Obama took to the stage at the Democratic National Convention in North Carolina and said he was looking forward to a time when discrimination against LGBT people would stop.
