I am very thankful to Chris and Brendon for their support!!

And obviously Chris knows more than I do, but it appears he’s correct and this shift is already happening. Brendon and Chris are not the only two allies we have in the NFL.

San Francisco 49er’s Ricky Jean Francois, Isaac Sopoaga, Donte Whitner and Ahmad Brooks produced an “It Gets Better” video earlier this year.

Scott Fujita (Cleveland Browns, formerly the New Orleans Saints) has been a staunch supporter of gay rights and marriage equality for years.

    TJ Graham (Buffalo Bills)

    Kamerion Wimbley (Oakland Raiders)

New York Giants team owner Steve Tisch and New England Patriots team owner Robert Kraft are both straight allies to the gay community.

Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith has said he’d welcome an openly gay player to his team.

    And there are others.

Brendon Ayanbadejo estimates that up to 70 percent of NFL players support gay rights and marriage equality. This small handful of athletes are breaking the ice.

  2. Beautiful things are happening. These enlightened young sportsmen will shame the bigots into backing down.

Can you imagine how powerful it would be if the NFL announced their position and officially stood in our corner?

Based on what I’ve been hearing and reading, I think they’re already there. They’ve just not made it official yet. But thanks to young men like Chris, Brendon and others, the genie is out of the bottle. And I predict an official announcement from the NFL within the next year or two declaring their support. And something like that would be massive and powerful.

  3. Is Pink News now a US-centric site.

If so then you should inform people and change your webaddress to

You are giving the fake impression that this is a website for UK LGBT news instead of a website which recycles old US news.

    1. Oh do get a life.

      1. Or maybe Pink News could get a journalist?

Instead of ‘borrowing’ (stealing) all these worthless stories from US websites.

        American football???? I mean seriously?

        Who cares?

        1. I do. I am not a fan of any sport but only a moron would choose to deny that these personalities have considerable influence. Although they are in another country we in the UK Gay community are affected by developments in other countries. No man is an island.
