Thank you for this link. I am an atheist child of Dominionist missionary parents to whom I was the family abomination. It is very difficult for a religious leader’s words or life story to move me. That article moved me profoundly. From the article in the Independent I received the distinct impression that this liberal jesuit actually did “live the life [he preached] about down in [his] soul.” My head is trying not explode after writing “liberal jesuit” and realizing it isn’t an oxymoron.
