X Factor contestant’s mum “feels cool” that her daughter is gay
An X Factor contestant has spoken out about being a lesbian, her mother’s acceptance, and that her grandad only found out that she was gay by using Google.
Lucy Spraggan, who wowed judges with her performance on X-Factor, has said that her mum felt “cool” that she had come out as gay, and had always accepted her sexuality.
“My mum loves gay people, she thinks she’s part of the cool club now,” she told the Mirror, “But grandad only found out I was gay on Google.”
Spraggan, a singer-songwriter, came out to her mum at 14. She also joked that “X Factor must do wonders for your love life. Girls do love girls with guitars.”
This was the first year that singer-songwriters were allowed to compete in the X Factor competition, and a song ‘Last Night’, previously recorded by Spraggan, had entered the iTunes top ten chart following her performance on the TV show.
