  1. Doesnt sound too much different than Modern family – Whats the problem with these dinosaurs ?. It’s discrimination plain and simple .
Do they just not SEE it or are they all just idiots . ?

    1. The latter, I think…

  2. If it is on prime-time network TV it’s lame or inane in some form or fashion. I’m lesbian and I couldn’t care less.

  3. BC is using public airwaves to continue to subject families to the decay of morals and values, and the sanctity of marriage in attempting to redefine marriage. These things are harmful to our society, and this program is damaging to our culture.”

The only thing damaging culture and moral decay is ”A Million Moms”

  4. Jodi Rives 26 Aug 2012, 9:23am

“One Million Moms” should more accurately be called “A Few Dozen Uptight Bitches.”

    1. Paddyswurds 26 Aug 2012, 1:59pm

…Actually OMM is a letterhead thought up by the American Family Association run by one defrocked elderly pastor Don Wildmon and his mammy’s boy son in an oil barrel shack in Tupelo, Mississippi .
His one million moms idea stems from a throwaway remark by the erudite Sarah Palin during the Presidential elections in 2008
I am sick of the international press such as Pink News, giving these nut jobs succor by publishing their inane and controlling bile.
As regards the TV show I couldn’t care less. At best it is nothing more than a cynical attempt by NBC to make some money from a current and obvious change in society in the last few years, while at worst, “scaring the horses” so to speak by stirring up controversy amongst the far right religiously deluded and ignorant corners of society, especially in the USA, where such people are attempting to roll the clock back to old testament times……

  5. Although it’s for the wrong reasons, maybe it’s best that we’re being saved from Ryan Murphy’s tripe? It’ll probably be more racist, sexist, stereotype-pushing feces.

  6. So our Mormon friends are at it again, I see. “KSL-TV” is owned by Bonneville International Corporation, which is in turn owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If this is an example of the influence of the Mormon Church over the media in Utah, I shudder to think what will happen if they get the chance to “influence” the White House.

    1. Well said. This is the Mormon Church for you in all its ignorant, homophobic glory…

    2. Paddyswurds 27 Aug 2012, 12:42pm

This is what awaits America if the moron Mormon Romney wins the election…..

  7. Christopher 26 Aug 2012, 1:02pm

So, let’s ban all str8 programs from gay households…

Oh, wait, we could just CHANGE THE CHANNEL….

  8. Eastenders would be censored on ABC,NBC or CBS in America. Not at all surprised by this is. We’ll buy it though! It will end up on pay per view in America – stuff we get for free in UK. Land of the free…………if you’re…male….straight…white…etc. Yawn, yawn.

  9. And we’re surprised? Both KSL-TV and Deseret News are owned by the Mormon Church

I thought the first amendment of the American constitution was supposed to guarantee freedom of speech and expression? Obviously, only when it applies to religious bigots. It makes me wonder if there really is separation of church and state.

We are talking Utah here, home state of the Mormons. Sorry, but you people should know you are going to have a fight on your hands from the outset.

    Nevertheless, I wish you luck.

  12. If some people think same sex marriage and family situations bring “the decay of morals and values, and the sanctity of marriage”, I have two words for them: infidelity. Divorce. These are displayed to a great extend on TV shows, and I’ve yet to see these ‘Moms’ mount a protest against their favourite soap.

So, I guess we can assume most of Utah has never seen the movie “Latter Days” (2003). This is near the top of my list of best Gay-themed movies; a MUST SEE especially if you want to learn about Gay Mormons! The IMDb info is here

    1. Back in 1958 I worked for KSL-TV (Mormon owned media and CBS affiliate) altho not a Mormon myself. Most of the folks there were genuine people, but also very bigoted. During a ‘live’ commercial during ‘The News at 10’ one evening, a used car salesman was spruiking the low cost of cars. He dropped in the words (although not during rehearsal) “Jesus Christ the boss will kill me for that low price.” The KSL-TV switchboard lit up like a christmas tree, and the next evening the General Manager came on air to apologise and explain this was not of the stations doing! It was funny though! In 1971 on a revisit to KSL-TV I sat in on a special screening from New York by coaxial cable of Archie Bunker in ‘All In the Family’ – well, you should have seen the look on the pious faces of the invited elders of the church who previewed the show to give it a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ – the ‘no’s’ had it, and the show was shelved for over a year. So it’s no surprise that they would reject ‘The New Normal.’

    2. Agree! “Latter Days” is one of my frequently viewed favorite gay movies I am always surprised how few people know of it, I constantly recommend it.,nice to see you sharing the info

I also frequently recommend “Prayers for Bobby” 2009, A movie which highlights a mother (Segorney Weaver) rationalize her religious bases homophobia it’s impact on her family and her life, contributing to the death of her son.

This is a fact based true story (not Mormon) subject but demonstrates the failure of religion to accept homosexuality.

      @@Aryu Gaetu…
……Thank you so much for the link to Latter Days. I watched it last night right after I read your post and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I especially enjoyed the ending which was so unusual for a gay themed movie in that it was a happy ending…. I have also watched Prayers for Bobby with Sigourney Weaver and enjoyed that as well although rather sad when the young man killed himself. I Got the link for it from a comment on Pink News too and would appreciate if anyone knows or has a list of such movies……..

      1. @Paddyswurds…

Save me! is another compelling view of this subject matter.
after watching the trailer on the Imdb most people find themselves searching for links to view.

One million moms has only “likes” now rather than “members” and this is because they could muster only slightly more than 20,000 “moms” so they’ve gone to likes and that # is now 49.920 as of this moment…far shorter than the one million they claim. They are a branch of the American Family Council, a designated Hate Group, like the Natl Org for Marriage (NOM) a Mormon and Catholic Hate Group designed to promote bigotry at every level especially against LGBTIQ people…these people throw their children away if they come out because their god wishes them to do so. They prefer their children dead over being LGBTIQ…their god loves everyone except fags and interracial marriage fans….so much for love…Utah is the Mormon homeland…discrimination is the rule for these Fundamentalists Christians….nice people….

    1. johnny33308 27 Aug 2012, 3:28am

      oops, American Family Association……

  15. This news has been a raucous debate topic at the Salt Lake Tribune for days now.

Salt Lake is generally a very progressive gay-friendly city, while the state of Utah (of which it is capital) is not a very progressive state. Ironic that KSL’s “SL” is named after Salt Lake.

  16. Once again the religious right/KSL-TV weaves its ugly web though the states of the USA. One can only imagine what will happen if Romney gets elected. Something like turning the clock back 50 years! and today Romney states thats its Obama that has divided america! Oh please, if there is one man and one party and one attentive right wing audience that will truly divide america then its the one that is following Mitt Romney! For the sake of America, please vote OBAMA and keep the right wing nutters out!

  17. Just watched the pilot, and it looks like a good show. Pushing boundaries, I’d say, but in a good way. I think it’s great for kids to see other kinds of families.
But if my parents ever saw it, oh man, they’d tear it apart for being innapropriate and unrealistic. Screw OMM.
