  1. Let him without sin cast the first stone.
FFS it was legal and nobody died.

    1. If it was legal then he shouldn’t have to. Just be more carefull in future and not “play” with people who will run to the press.

      1. I smell a counter to all this horrible talk of ‘legitimate rape’. And it smells ratty.

It was legal, the man is single – end of story.

I suppose I do condemn the guy for not being out and for indulging NSA sex – but those are my standards.

    1. And for doing it in such a unhygienic place like a rest stop.

  3. Why was there a police report about the incident in the first place?

    1. It was investigated as ‘suspicious activity’ it says here:

      http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/event/article/id/240359/publisher_ID/36/

But the investigation was stopped after the sex was found to be consensual.

  4. Thoe only problem I see here is that they done this at a rest stop. Other than that it was legal. You hear about straight sex scandals all the time from politicians why do they not have to stand down. Doubla standards as usual.

    1. THE……….. Far too early in the morning lol

  5. So having sex with someone you met on the internet is cause for being condemned by your political colleagues in Minnesota now is it?

Nothing bad has happened here! No laws were broken. Nobody got hurt. Nothing was damaged. Indeed, two people probably got a bit of a kick out of it (or would have done if they hadn’t been disturbed).

Move along, Minnesota. You have people like Michelle Bachmann in power. There are real political crimes being committed and real undesirables in your halls of power. That’s where you should be throwing your condemnation, not here where nothing untoward has happened.

  6. At the moment 6 out 10 Pink News frontpage stories are US stories.

Is Pink News now a specifically US site?

Some of the stories are massively dull and irrelevant for a UK audience.

    1. There is a reason for it, to be sure.

PN’s founder is allegedly moving to San Francisco. What better way to parachute in than to have your news site already a recognised brand?

        Oh well.
        That’s me gone then.

  7. He was foolish and reckless and nothing more – something you need to avoid in public life. But it is hardly a reason to step down and the pressure to do so comes only from the prissy religiously-driven moralism driving American politics. It is a huge and I think deliberate distraction from the fact that politicos on both sides of the pond no longer serve the needs of ordinary people.

  8. Clinton didn’t volunteer to step down, nor was he impeached over the Monica Lewinsky saga.

Sure Rep. Gauthier, perhaps did some thing unwise considering his position. However it was investigated and found to be legal but because it was a “gay sex liaison” it’s a scandal and he “has to resign” interesting double standard considering he was only a Representative.

  9. I think you meant to say is that if he does NOT step down, it will jeopardize the hold of the seat by the Democrats.

If all consenting adults in government
Where asked to step down or resign regardless of orientation.
We would not have a government.
    Y’all need to grow up.
    And get a life.
Stay in your own bedroom and not worry so much what going on in others.

    1. I don’t see the down side of “we wouldn’t have government ” we need to get rid of most of those hypothetical wind bags anyway.

  11. I think they should follow their own urges.

  12. Call me ageist if you like, but there’s certainly an Eeeuw factor to a 56yo and a teenager. And I say that being [a lot] closer to the older man’s age.

(I would say exactly the same about about and man and a teenage girl too or, for that matter, a woman – hello, Iris Robinson – and a teenage boy.)

So if you feel Eeeuw, don’t date a seventeen year old if you are older or vice versa. Don’t judge others for the consensual choices!

      1. Why not? My ‘judgment’ is hardly going to have any effect on the persons in question, I was merely expressing my own distaste – I certainly wasn’t suggesting they should be imprisoned or the age of consent raised or anything like that.

Providing the Republicans a divirsion for their “legitimate rape” snafus and making it harder to take back the Minnesota State House for the Democrats is the only thing this man has done wrong. That’s a political reality. The legal reality is that they did nothing wrong! Because this is such a critical election (both federally and in the state of Minnesota), I think it would be better if he resigned to benefit the large good, but I can understand why he might want to fight it.
