  1. The modern GOP is the Christaliban. LGBT people are on subset of society that faces abject disaster if those ill-educated dominionist lunatics get power.

“When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross” – Sinclair Lewis

  2. If you’re looking for people who are like drug users, you need look no further than the devoutly religious.

    1. People like that use doctors & drugs, they just pay thier way & then they think they are the better ones? lol

    2. billywingartenson 22 Aug 2012, 11:03am

its more like they are victims of obsessive compulsive disorder of the variant called hatred.

Deep down in their wicked hearts , they know they are losing. Look for more insanity of likes of the catholic church, which supported the likes of Goebbels, Himmler, Eichmann, and Mengele – all catholics in a nation then only 1/3 catholic

Am tired of these assholes republicans and their ideas judging us like if we were the plague I really wish their children became gays to punish them to the core.

    1. Gene in L.A. 22 Aug 2012, 1:33am

I don’t care as much about punishing them as I do about changing their mind. I’m angry too, but let’s not lower ourselves to their level in the pursuit of our just cause.

    2. To be fair, in practice the democrats are just as bad. It’s because religion is so deeptly rooted in American culture they’re a bit behind everyone else.

      1. That’s blatantly not true. The Democrats have a marriage equality plank. They are fighting DOMA. They brought about repeal of DADT. It’s true that there are homophobes among the dems, but they are not “just as bad”.

You at least confirm that people ‘Become’ gay. It’s a start I suppose.

      1. You always confirm that you are mentally ill and that’s a start I suppose’

  4. Our leaders need to accept “All” the people as long as we claim to be a :Free Country”

  5. I know a lot of “Reliigous” people that expect other roups to conform to thier way of life but I don’t know any LGBT person that expect the “religious roups to conform. LGBT people only want equal rights as a citizen & acceptance for who they are.

  6. GingerlyColors 22 Aug 2012, 6:49am

Kris Kobach must be on drugs himself if he comes out with bigoted statements like that.

  7. I don’t know why these people even open their mouths with the amount of bullsh*t that seems to come from them on an almost-daily basis.

    1. if they kept their mouths closed, the pressure would build up and they’d explode.

  8. After spending some time in the Politics board of IMDb (yes, I am sorry for doing that) and learning a little more about the state of the US elections and all that nasty talk about abortion rights (Paul Ryan, Todd Akin and all those nice figures of the American crazy political scenario) I am not even afraid of the Republicans anymore. It seems like all the members of the GOP suddenly turned into a bunch of buffoons, clowns and jesters pilotting a ship of fools towards nowhere. The Republicans don’t even know what they are doing anymore by publicly offending the American population. Homosexuals are barely humans, women probably deserve rape, so what’s next ? The United States was better in the times of black slavery ? I wouldn’t be surprised if some Republican politician made that declaration in public and then tried to apologize saying he was “taken out of context”, as it seems to be the standard excuse of every politician.

    1. “The United States was better in the times of slavery” WAS said by a famous Republican: Sarah Palin.

She affirmed that black people were far better off during the time of slavery.

  9. If the American people vote in Romney it will be a very, very sad day not only for America but the whole world.

Romney is Bush like in his views and we all know what happened when that idiot was in power.

America’s human rights are no better than those of some African countires and I fear if Romney and his cronies have the power all the advancements in human rights the current US governement made would have been a waste of time.

America please do not vote in this fool!

  10. What a total idiot! I am sick listening to these people. Get a life or at least an education.

  11. Yet another Republican spouting off hatred and claiming going on about polygamy.

    What an utter bell end!

    1. billywingartenson 22 Aug 2012, 11:06am

BTW the book of mormon says you need 3 wives to go to heaven. the fundi mormons get tossed in jail, not for multiple religious marriages but for raping their eg 9 year old wives.

Here’s hoping that they end up in the slammer with roomnates named spike

  12. Paul from Brighton 22 Aug 2012, 8:55am

    No surprises here.

This is the country that brought up, Ronald Regan, George Bush, George Wya Bush…..

    Need I go on?

  13. The Republican Party is an extreme rightwing party.

And it is a mainstream party in the US.

    They are weirdo freaks.

  14. Odd how going to ‘rehab’ for the ‘drug addiction’ of being gay is incredibly unhealthy…even possibly fatal! I’m happier WITH the ‘addiction’ ;)

  15. Anyone who thinks the Repugs don’t have a chance of winning need to consider 3 things.

    1. We’re talking about America. There’s no such thing as too right-wing.

    2. Citizens United means that there is no transparency and no accountability and no limits on campaign spending.

    3. The Repugs have succeeded in doing the cost analysis of how many votes need to be suppressed in how many states to secure their victory.

    Be afraid, be very afraid.

    1. mike is correct.
the voter suppressing and voter id bs is going to have the faux newies smiling the day after the election pleased as punch that obama was voted out of office, all fair and balanced…the american way…of course

  16. They have everything they need to carry out a large scale study which looks into whether any damage is caused in places where civil partnerships or same-sex marriage is legal.

But of course they would never do that! The results wouldn’t favour them.

It’s like Stephen Colbert said, I suppose… “Reality has a well known liberal bias”.

  17. So, can he tell the difference. Surely not.

How can anyone relate to being gay and a drug addict.

Many gay people do take too many drugs to give them self esteem and to have good sex.

But to associate it to us, is purely wrong, as it is a huge society problem, full stop.

    1. Perhaps he thinks he can! In his mind liken people choose to be drug addicts and we choose to be gay!

His association is beyond his comprehension.

People “make a choice to do drugs” we we don’t choose to be gay!

  18. I get fed up of the constant references to Polygamy. It’s the most stupid comparison to marriage equality there is.

Where i n his bible does Mr. Rooney find any reference to “and XYZ took and lived with multiple husbands”

Where in the USA can he reference on situation where any arrest have been made for same sex underage polygamy?

No he can’t! because the only ones he can reference are “heterosexual” examples from bible parables or polygamist like Warren Jeffs

Almost as stupid as “Being gay to being a drug addict” rephrased would say “Being a drug to being gay”

There’s no comparison so why keep making them?

    .

    1. Hiv disproportionate among /homo-dev/iants. 22 Aug 2012, 12:11pm

If marriage does not mean one man one woman then on which basis should consenting adults be prevented from polygamy?

      1. As Mitt Romney – he’s the Mormon.

        1. Hi.v disproportionate among /homo-dev/iants. 22 Aug 2012, 1:48pm

he believes they should marry. I am asking you on which basis should they be prevented and you don’t know., moron!

          1. Well why would I?

You’ve never responded to my query about whether you still beat your wife.

            do you?

  19. Robert in S. Kensington 22 Aug 2012, 12:10pm

What is even more sickening is that gay republicans, an oxymoron if ever there were, will be voting for this dangerous idiot who supports a federal ban on equal marriage and who donated to the Prop. 8 campaign overturning California’s marriage equality law. Even if the American economy were booming and jobs plentiful, they’d still vote for this moron because equality isn’t a priority for them, never was and never will be.

  20. Robert in S. Kensington 22 Aug 2012, 12:13pm

The most sickening thing is that gay republicans will vote for this idiot who believes that there should be a federal ban on equal marriage across the entire country.

Even if the economy were buoyant and jobs plentiful, they’d still cast their vote for the moron. Sad.

  21. Aaaah Polygamy.

Mitt Romney and his advisers need to steer clear of that chestnut.

Mitt Romney is a Mor(m)on – an insane cult that practised polygamy until very recently.

Does Mitt Romney condemn those Mor(m)on rebels who want polygamy reinstated across the lunatic Mor(m)on cult?

  22. Romney is a mormon. Mormons support polygamy. I think that’s an argument ‘special pants’ needs to stay away from.

    1. Hi.v disproportionate among /homo-dev/iants. 22 Aug 2012, 1:46pm

Why shouldn’t multiple consensual adults marry?

      1. Well, of course they should. They should be allowed to have as many wives as they wish. Islam allows Muslims to have four, and how many is it that some Mormons still have? As long as they can afford to have multiple wives, there should be no problem. Romney in his heart of hearts most likely accepts the Mormon belief in having many wives.

  23. OutMaturity 22 Aug 2012, 2:38pm

Romney should be so disappointed in himself. He is so sad of a person, so sad!

  24. oh i fear the american spring is fast coming up on us and it won’t be pretty. more and more i read of anti-gay, anti-black, anti-poor, anti-women , anti-immigrant, anti-gun law, anti- enfranchisement, anti-people groups wielding greater and greater power. america’s future looks grim. what went wrong? how is this happening?

  25. There are many people who use controlled substances that hurt plenty of other people directly, so as if his comparison wasn’t idiotic enough, he made himself sound like even more of an ignorant fool. Severe drug addicts will kill, steal, and do pretty much anything in order to get there fix, I don’t know many gay man/woman out there willing to do that for a relationship or sex.

    1. I am rather disappointed by the erroneous headline to this story and even more so, if not particularly surprised, by the comments that appear to be reacting to that headline (or a misreading of such that Romney himself made the statement) rather than to the story itself.

As I read it, Mr Kobach was apparently providing examples of government judging actions that do not infringe upon the rights of others. According to the article, he was not ‘comparing’ or ‘likening’ homosexuality, ‘being gay’ or even civil unions to any crimes; he was merely countering a sentence proclaiming limits on governmental authority by illustrating laws which obviously exceed those limits.

      1. Oops! Apologies! That wasn’t meant to be a reply to Steph.
