  1. I hope the BDS are able to refute any lies publicly one by one and in detail to show up any bias or misinformation in the TV programme quite clearly.

As we gain rights there’s always a backlash, and this can often be very underhand. If there is misinformation in this programme is there any action BDS can take?

    1. And the worst thing is the way this sort of smear can linger.

Let’s hope there’s a decent lawyer who can help BDS without charging the earth.

      1. Very true, Rehan. An example would be some of the ‘Christians being persecuted’ cases the UNChristian Institute has supported in the UK. For example, they’ve managed to give the impression that it’s against the law to wear a cross, and this lie has been repeated enough times that people genuinely think it’s true. That’s why it’s important for BDS to get right in there and nip this in the bud.

Legal action would be great too if it was deemed appropriate.

I totally watch this program and i think it is fact. i did’t found any kind of bias . TV program only focus for corruption and fake work for blue diamond society. many Nepali people doubt this organization work. you can visit this link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhzfU2IBhfs&feature=plcp

I watched the link you sent and it appears to be a lot of sensational misinformation designed to mislead and character assassinate an organization that is trying to do good work for a downtrodden community. This kind of reporting only serves to tarnish the image of the media and Sagarmatha TV would do well to retract its story. By the way, Sagarmatha TV’s owner is a relative of the journalist who produced this story and he is currently a fugitive from the law as he is in hiding. One can only wonder about the veracity of a piece produced by a channel with a criminal owner.

        2. Yes BDS should show the clean line /charges agains t them instead of throwing stone and threatening journalists as they are doing since last 4 days.
It was since 3 year the lesbian group has been outcasted from bds as it is known as LGBTI organisation in nepal. If there is nothing then why since 1 year every alternate magagine report about Mr. pants neptoism (as his in laws as treasurer of BDS ,His nephew as Lawer in BDS and His brothers in law as staff in BDS ???? He had a big Mahal in Kathmandu can he prove from where he earned that much money ??he riding a Pajero which cost nepal rs 5 Million .He betrayed the political party who dared to nominate him as Member of Parliament.

  2. I completely agree with the TV program, Before writing one sided article, Christopher Brocklebank, should consulted with the Sagarmatha TV, as the program says they have the letter or agreement which BDS asked to sign their former employee not to disclose any information of false creation of data to outsider. There are question to be answered by BDS?

    1. I would have thought that trying to safeguard an organisation from employees passing on false information is perfectly understandable?

      1. A proper investigation on their data is needed, there has been lots of suspicion on their wrong doing. Donar agency need to check how they use their fund, should investigate how the president of BDS has acquired huge assest in him name? Thank you Sagarmatha TV for bringing this issue out.

    2. BDS seems to consistently exaggerate. No doubt it is in the cause of raising funds, but eventually such an attitude can lead to fraud.

Several similar groups in India were found to have done hardly any of the work for which they received grants, when audited. This was anti-HIV work, and the money had been, presumably, used for general LGBT purposes. The problem is of course that anti-HIV and AIDS-care funding is often the only money around, and this can mean that originally anti-HIV groups can be the only funded group in the field of sex and gender minorities, promoting sometimes wrong-headed or sectional interests. Such as labeling M2F people as “men who have sex with men”. BDS pushing “third sex” is similar.

If BDS was faking numbers of HIV cases when there are people needed help but got none because because BDS used the money elsewhere, then there is a problem. big issue, otherwise it might seem persecution. But journalists do that all the time.

      1. Last line wasn’t part of my response. Glitch somewhere.

Blue Diamond Society has been able to stand firm for the rights of the Gender and the Sexual Minorities in Nepal. The Milestones it has achieved so far are commendable. Sunil Babu has been a driving force behind what Neplali LGBTI community has achieved so far. This news of a Nepali TV framing charges of corruption on BDS leadership has come as a shocker though. The channel claims that targets set by donor agencies for projects funded by them are being met by filling in false names. In fact an anonymous person speaks about how the false names are included in the reports to achieve the targets. I do not see any connection between this revelation and fund embezzlement. However, in a poor country like Nepal where unemployment rate is very high, ensuring that there is a perennial source of funding to keep the staff employed cannot be ruled out as a reason for false reporting if the allegation is genuine. Donor agencies should have fool proof monitoring and evaluation tools to evaluate the

the fact. Had the TV channel talked about suspiciously enormous wealth and asset accumulation by the leadership, the story would have been completely different altogether and a simple asset audit would reveal the truth.
Humanitarian deeds are done selflessly and one who makes it big in life at the expense of the poor, downtrodden and lesser privileged in the society will certainly have to pay the price. In the other hand, a so called baseless allegation shall remain a “yellow journalism” if left unproven.
