Felicitations, Carl Hester, well done! I think its truly amazing that we are third in placement for medals considering how small a country we are and not investing as much in our athletes or having the resources as the Chinese and Americans. A day to be proud of, in fact the entire Olympiad this year is something the UK can be equally proud of. We can do it as good as any other, even though many Americans say Beijing couldn’t be surpassed. I beg to differ. The opening ceremony alone was extremely creative, informative, didactic and unusual, something that distinguished it from all others I’ve seen.

    1. I think the sporting prowess across all sports from Team GB athletes has been remarkable.

As for the opening ceremony, the challenge was to bring something memorable, creative, unique and memorable and that was definitely achieved.

Couldn’t agree with you more Robert. I took part in the opening ceremony and for me it was my chance to represent our great country!

I agree Robert. I am utterly amazed at how I have been swept up with it all from the opening ceremony onwards. We were at a party and we projected the ceremony on to a wall – fabulous. We have been down to a few events and the atmosphere is joyous. And for once our overpaid footballers have been deservedly thrust into the background!

Carl Hester is the tops, although he needs to go some to get near his pupil, Charlotte and Valegro. He owns her horse though, fancy swapping over for the individual, Carl?

But we are constantly told by Stonewall that 6% of the population is gay. Hence out of over 10,000 athletes there should have been 600 gay athletes. So where were the other 570 odd competitors? This cannot be accounted for through homophobia since we are told that London, especially Stoke Newington has eradicated all homophobia. Maybe Ben Summerskill is into a diversity of truth as well as sexual orientations
