London: LGBT sports clubs offer free taster sessions for budding athletes
The capital’s LGBT community is being urged to seize upon the spirit of the Olympic Games and try out a new sport. Out for Sport’s week is taking place from 13 – 19 August across London.
It aims to encourage wider LGBT involvement in sport with multiple LGBT clubs providing free taster sessions. Prospective new members can try out around 18 different activities in total.
They include men and women’s football, women’s basketball, hockey, kickboxing, martial arts, roller derby, running, duplicate bridge, squash, swimming, synchronised swimming, tennis, volleyball and water polo.
Roy Desche, from Out for Sport, spoke of his excitement at the coming week and said: “No one can deny the positive effects of sport on our mind, body and spirit, but also resulting in improved health and a sense of achievement.
“Like any club, you can never have too many members, there is always room for more, no matter what your level is, we all have to start somewhere.
“So come along, try our Out for Sport taster sessions, get involved and enjoy the rewards it can bring into your life”.
