  1. Ignore the chest pains, bigots, and suck down another fried wing.

All polls indicate that the tipping point has been reached. The GOP will keep pandering to its base – Ignorant, poorly educated, cowardly bigots – because pushing a wedge issue distracts the stupid from how hard they get scr3wed by right wing politics.

  2. I know jobs are difficult to come by in the current climate but there is no way on this earth that I would work for a company such as this.

  3. Lynda Yilmaz 2 Aug 2012, 10:54am

It beggars belief, why a bloody chicken restaurant would feel the need to make any sort of political comment at all. I hope they go out of business.

  4. That There Other David 2 Aug 2012, 11:17am

Woo!! Land of the Free indeed!!!

What a cesspit the USA has become. These people are no better than the mullahs in Iran. That sound you hear is Thomas Jefferson et al. spinning in their respective graves.

    1. de Villiers 2 Aug 2012, 5:14pm

I think that the mullahs of Iran are worse.

      1. No, they are not. What is different is the society around them. If those bigots had the same kind of support as the mullahs do they would start stoning tomorrow.

        1. Really – you really think Chick-Fil-A is worse than the Iranian regime!?!?!?!

Now, I in no way wish to support Chick-Fil-A; for the record their actions over recent weeks has been grotesque and inhumane.

But when did they start hanging people on their parking lots for being gay … thats the sort of thing the Iranian regime do! … do Chick-Fil-A have plans to develop nuclear weapons? do Chick-Fil-A imprison people who speak out against them?

No, I think Iran is worse!

  5. Dave North 2 Aug 2012, 11:24am

I’m sorry but I just do not get the name.

What is it supposed to mean?

I guess that if it was parrot burgers they were flogging it would be called

    1. It sounds like a dodgy nickname for a pornstar to me

      1. Dave North 2 Aug 2012, 11:42am

“High doll, want a piece of my CHICK-FIL-A”

Doesn’t sound very christian to me. :-)

    2. Robert in S. Kensington 2 Aug 2012, 12:23pm

I think it’s a play on “chicken fillet”. Chicken breasts or fillets/filets, are used to make their sandwiches I believe.

    3. It is a terrible name. It’s supposed to be pronounced “fillay” to sound like chick fillet. Americans love childish phonetic or spelling games. Like the Nite Nite Hotel, Kum N Go etc. There is a chain of petrol stations called Amerigas, which I always think sounds stupid. And a clothing store called Kidsexchange.

      1. I’m surprised they haven’t banned that name; Kid sexchange?

        1. Ben Foster 2 Aug 2012, 4:47pm

kidsexchange – kid-sex-change!!! Somebody ought to have thought that one through.

I get chick-fil-a now, with the ‘fillay’ pronunciation. But I’m starting to feel sick at the mention of chicken since this story began.

    4. As Cal says, people in the US persist in their mistaken belief that the word fillet doesn’t exist in English (bless the poor little mites), and that it’s spelt and pronounced as the French filet.

      1. de Villiers 2 Aug 2012, 5:17pm

Oddly, the Americans call the plat principal (main course) the entrée.

        1. I think that harks back to the days of the grande entrée.

  6. The Chick-fil-A controversy is being reported on Sky News today –

  7. Any gay employee who works for Chick Fil , should be actively seeking alternative employment.

It’s a fast food ‘restaurant’, so considering how many of these fleapits exist in the US (as evidenced by the fact that such a high percentage of Americans have an arse the size of Texas) they should find alternative employment pretty soon.

And considering how unhealthy Chick Fil A is, then it’s a good thing that bigots are flocking there.

    1. Marcwebbo3 2 Aug 2012, 12:03pm

If the bigots flock there it can only be a good thing as that leaves the decent places to eat for gay and ‘straight’ which they can do in peace whilst being themselves.

      1. There’s no such thing as a decent fast food place though.

        It’s all junk

          1. They will only be healthy if you know the calorie salt, sugar and fat content of what’s inside the food and you choose accordingly. They have REPUTATIONS for being healthy but unless you are hyper diligent about what you are ordering then those places are no better than dumps like McDonalds.

Subway and Martha’s have good PR teams, but these are self-regulating companies so their ‘commitment’ to being healthy is not backed up by changing their menu to only include normal sized portions with strict guidelines about salt, fat and sugar content.

        1. Leon is pretty good.

        2. I love Chipotle. Starting to open up stores in the UK now. Much more expensive here than in the US of course.

          1. That’s nice food.

But Chipotle is as unhealthy as McDonalds unless you know the calorie, salt, fat and sugar content of each menu item and choose accordingly.

        3. Marcwebbo3 2 Aug 2012, 3:51pm

I wasnt necessarily meaning fast food places as it is mainly junk.

  8. Jen Marcus 2 Aug 2012, 11:54am

And we all know the root cause of all this
    evil BS ,RELIGION!

    1. Robert in S. Kensington 2 Aug 2012, 12:36pm

Absolutely. Even bigot Bishop Sentamu admits that the CoE is responsible for the rabid homophobia in the UK over the years. It’s what heralded Section 28, among other things. We’ve yet to get an official apology that I’m sure won’t be forthcoming any time soon.

  9. I hope the gay employees find other places to work. It must have been awful to work ther, seeing all the xtian fundies feeding their fat faces, the employees knowing that this was a celebration of hate against them and all GLBT people.

My contempt for Xtian fundiegelicals grows stronger every day.

  10. Robert in S. Kensington 2 Aug 2012, 12:33pm

I wonder if Chick-Fil-A’s employee handbook mentions anything about sexual orientation? The fact that some gay employees are speaking out makes me wonder, are they out and if they’re not, could they face being sacked once their orientation is known? The republicans from what I’ve read, fully support a private business owner to sack an LGBT man or woman or not employ them at all if they are perceived to be gay or their orientation becomes known which means they would not support any legislation, currently the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) from ever becoming law under their tenure. They believe the current laws are sufficient and nobody needs added protection. What a backward society. So much for the land of the free, a nation that boasts having more personal freedoms than any other. An utter load of cobblers in my view. Say what you want, as bad as we think we may have it, I’d rather be gay here than in the U.S.A. any day.

    1. I found this on the Chick-Fil-A website and almost rolled on the floor with laughter – the lies they tell:

“Chick-fil-A is committed to diversity as a means of promoting excellence, respecting individuals and valuing differences to maximize innovation, competitiveness and business results.”

      1. Running the gamut of diversity from AD to BC.

  11. Dear homosexuals, watch and weep

    CHICK-FIL-A are winning.

    1. Oh goody, the imagination of some moron has decided to grace us with “Aiden’s” presence again. Aren’t we lucky?

I trust you’ve fired off an e-mail to Chick-Fil-A to voice your support? In between jacking it to some porn then crying to yourself about what a bad Christian you are of course.

    2. Dear Aiden,

You could usefully wise-up on the reasons for your bigotry.

      Take a look at:

…if you’re able to step outside the safe cocoon of absolutism

Other people have emancipated themselves. I hope that you manage it too:

    3. DJ Sheepiesheep 2 Aug 2012, 12:55pm

No doubt filmed in the socially conservative state of Colodaro, it’s no real surprise to see lines of overweight idiots waiting to suck on deep fried road kill. I especially liked the shot of the middle aged obese woman who needs a mobility scooter. What a stunning endorsement of your heart disease and diabetes inducing product.

    4. That There Other David 2 Aug 2012, 1:21pm

Except when all of this furore dies down those supporters will move on, whilst those with an axe to grind will continue to stay away. That brand is now irretrievably tainted. Unless the chain rebrands in two years it will be gone in five.

    5. Ah America, Land Of The Free.

      Unless you’re Gay.

Aiden my dear, you will find the time of change is coming, Chick Fil A are welcome to their sad little restaurants. The customers who have voiced their support are nothing more than Christian hypocrites, who take sections of the bible that suits them and call it their religion.

The picture of the obese and ignorant filing in to show thier “support” Yeah right. An excuse to feed their faces. They have been embarrassed on the international stage. Their supporters do nothing to alieviate that embarrasment, rather than cement it. I include Sarah Palin in this.

    6. That was fun watching Aiden’s video about the redneck convention. These are AMERICAN families queueing forFREEDOM. America tastes like sweet tea and waffle fries. Really funny. Good to know that the Klan still love good cookin’

    7. Ben Foster 2 Aug 2012, 4:51pm

Seriously, Aiden, you’re offering something from Youtube as evidence that we are losing what amounts to a pretty useless fight to begin with? Any idiot an post any piece of nonsense on that site.

    8. just watched the clip are these people for real? Or were the black, asian and other ethnic minorities quitley air brushed out of the video or did the crew simply stop filming when anyone culturely objectionable happened to wander into the shot

    9. Troll.

  12. The Daily Wail has this story on their we-site with loads of the comments from from right-wing American bigots and wingnuts. Chick-fil-A could do with some spelling and grammar tuition or do they dumb down so their customer base can understand?

    1. or do they dumb down so their customer base can understand?

      Of course they do!

  13. Tom Cotner 2 Aug 2012, 2:35pm

IMHO, it surely is a big hoo haw about not much of anything. I’ve known for years of their bigoted attitude toward me and my ilk, and have chosen simply not to buy their product. It is not for me to try to forbid their being in a certain city, nor is it for me to whine about people who frequent their stores. I simply don’t go. No brainer, as far as I’m concerned.

    1. Except they’re giving an awful lot of money to groups that actively go out of their way to make sure we don’t get the same rights as other people.

      1. Tom Cotner 2 Aug 2012, 4:30pm

It’s their right to do so. Of course, I do not agree with that, nor any of the other bigoted and thoughtless things their owners do. Again, I say, that it is not my place to try and forbid those choices, as they are guaranteed by our constitution.
The only rational (and constitutional) way I can oppose them is to give to groups who support us. And, I do that, as I am able. And I do not patronize those businesses who do give to the other side, and I often let them know why.
There will always be persons or groups who will try to keep us in a 2nd class citizen category. But to try and retaliate in a way which would deny them their own constitutional rights, is to lower ourselves in their very own gutter, and I refuse to be in the gutter with them.

“The South” – America’s ongoing nursery for bigotry.

Even though the American Civil War ended in 1865, the war between the overly conservative southern states and the more liberal northern states STILL wages on. Chick-Fil-A was born and is popular only within “The South”. It wasn’t until just recently that they decided to spread into the northern states, where they were completely unknown. (KFC very popular here.)

In “The South”, a land were they firmly believe God hates fags… blacks… Jews… working women… or just about anything else not white, straight, Christian and overly saturated with testosterone and watered-down beer* as they polish a cellar full of automatic weapons, are so incredibly ignorant that they were surprised the rest of the world didn’t share their narrow-minded views.

Sadly, Chick-Fil-A will probably thrive in the more rural conservative areas of the northern states.

    1. I would like to disagree with you there…I am from the south and fully support gay and other equalist rights. I also have a room full of guns and ammo but I am anything but ignorant, as are many people I know and associate with on a daily basis. by perceiving “the south” the way you described it you are just as ignorant as us “narrow minded southerners”….

      1. I think you are right. The South has many intelligent and thinking people who support equality for all. There are many ignorant northerners as well.

  15. CFA Employees! Sorry you have to witness so much hate from the customers. Furthermore sorry for those franchisees who did not know CFA’s CEO is a hater. Let’s face it, those organizations Cathy donates to are haters masking themselves as “family value”. Everyone, including gays, have families and have values. What is misleading about these hate hate groups marketing themselves as family oriented Christian is that they focus on inequality, on removing hatecrime laws… who are these people anyways? Well, they are your customers. Those people who walked up to the counter and use the “f” word and spew venoms from their mouths – they are the haters. At least now you can put a face on hate. They might look normal, like everyone else, but their core is rotten.

  16. Surely Wendy’s have rules on this sort of activities by their franchisees. He should have his franchise agreements rescinded

  17. Peter Gregory 3 Aug 2012, 5:38pm

Well, I STILL, even in winter won’t get on Stagecoach buses thanks to that crazy hating loonie. Suggest everyone reads the fab Guardian article

    1. Peter Gregory 3 Aug 2012, 5:41pm

Here’s a BETTER Guardian article about sad people who don’t have a life and instead of regarding intellect or achievment as an enviable goal, go for trainers or designer labels or anti-gay burger crap to get themselves an identity:

  18. There’s a nickname that sprouted up for these anti-gay restaurant patrons – “chicken chokers”. Their obsession with how other strangers live their personal lives borders on the voyeuristic, so taking part in this “appreciation day” took on a creepy context. Here’s a local (moderate newspaper) cartoon criticizing the “appreciation day”:
