  1. So CPs are way more stable than marriages? Excellent.

Now stop whinging on about how wonderful and sacred opposite sex marriage is and let us show you how it’s done!

This puts an end to the lie that same sex partnerships are more unstable than hetros.

Which would make the case for equal marriage that much stronger!

But this also enables the enemies of equal marriage to use CPs as justification to not allow us to marry, that they are sufficient even though many of them don’t even want us to have them either.

    1. No it doesn’t, Robert.

They can pretend it does – but that argument is neither made out nor a legitimate argument to prevent equality

The problem with that is that they think it does and their shills, the Daily Mail and Telegraph, run with and promote it and in some ways, so do the BBC. When they keep repeating it, gullible people start to believe it.

Always the problem with our opponents’ assertions! Which is why it’s so important that we all take the time to write to the letters pages of the papers (well perhaps not the Mail!) – it does make a difference!

  6. Men accounted to 50.7 percent of civil partnerships, women for 49.3.

Hate to come across as pernickety(sp?) but what about trans men and women marrying their opposite-sex partners?

Don’t most trannies identify as hetro, though?

However you didn’t answer the question?

          Post a reply →
          1. I didn’t dignify it with an answer, because it didn’t warrant one.

    2. Well, firstly CPs aren’t marriage …

I suspect (but am happy to be corrected) that there will be more accurate stats for the issuance of GRCs than there are for trans CPs. Not sure of the figures though.

  7. Lets hope in a yr or so time the stats will be on how many same sex marriages there are…..I think there will be a lot of us upgrading from our CPs

  8. I preferred the Evening Standard’s version of this news item, which highlighted the truly remarkable fact that there have been about 250% more civil partnerships than had been expected.

    http://goo.gl/KprI0

That’s far more significant than the welcome 6% rise in this year’s CP figures.

Presumably it indicates there are 250% more gays than had been believed to be the case !

The Standard also had a short third leading article urging ministers to note this and bring in gay marriage.

Come on PN, you’re being overtaken by the Standard !
