Good luck. Even if it’s in shifts, it’s a dramatic and powerful way to grab attention.

  2. um… some anti-gay people want you dead, aren’t you playing into their hands?

  3. What hogwash to compare Michigan with Mississippi. Yes, Michiganders have elected a relatively conservative government (arguably moderate by Mississippi standards). However, as a native Michigander (who has lived in New England and Florida and travelled extensively), while our laws are behind, Michigan is no worse (in day-to-day life) than any other state.

    1. It is one of the few states with outright prohibition on adopting children as a couple. Even in cases where it’s your partner’s children. It’s the only state that in the past three years or so has passed like 4 different specifically anti-gay laws (like taking away municipal workers’ partners’ and partners’ children’s insurance). It was one of the handful of states that wanted to make “homosexuality” not subject to bullying laws. And the anti-gay politicians, who have pushed these laws through are ready to push more. And the supposedly moderate Republican governor was happy to sign these and surely will sign more.

I’ve been lucky to live in NY, NJ, and IL. And in comparison, MI is the Mississippi of the Midwest. There’s no other way to put it.
