I am so humble before the Eagle Scouts who have returned their badges and I thank them for their wonderful, wonderful gesture. Initially, I didn’t realise what it meant to be an Eagle Scout: it’s a big deal. These people have worked hard for their badges, and they mean something. To return them means something, too, something at least equal to the zeal and persistence needed to gain them. A google search for ‘Boing Boing Eagle Scouts’ (I know, sounds weird…) will allow you to find the personal messages from these brave and important men. Not all of them are gay. All of them are standing up for something important, though.
I read the post as well. Each letter is inspirational and deeply sad that the men have felt driven to this act.

First they came for the gays, next the jews and the trade unionists, then the blacks – same hideous prejudice, same hatreds. The US American scout leadership should hang their heads in shame, they are no different from the leaders of the Third Reich when it comes to persecuting sexuality minorities.
A great gesture by his colleagues and yet further proof that the US has a very long way to go to on LGBT rights and equality! This kind of thing would not be allowed to happen in the UK and quite rightly so!

It’s not their version of the UK Scout Association’s code which is wrong – just (as is often the case in situations like this) the chronic homophobia of those men (it’s usually men) in positions of power within the organisation…

It seems like gay marriage or at least a homophobia free society is an important thing that the majority of Americans now want, so why the PEOPLE of America don’t just start another boys club, one that actually honors the human rights of everyone?
God help America Scouting has turned in to a witch hunt camp. So it’s out with gays and leave it to be run by the so called normal’s Oh yeah that includes paedophiles’ you know the ones that actually sexually offend young children not gay or lesbian people, Oh how blind they are to their action so as they often say GOD Save America and from it’s homophobia and discrimination, they need help from up above with their mental health issues and understanding of who really is the threat in the Scouts.
