Well done, Mayor Menino! At last, a politiican who actually stands up to these bigots and takes action too.

Wish we had some more decent politicians like Mayor Menino on this side of the pond!

  6. Freedom of speech/association? No?

I’d say let them open, then have the majority of Boston boycott.

  8. well, Chick-fil-A have bacon on the menu.. so I’m going to go ahead and assume they are hypocrites when they say that they are “founded on biblical values”.

  9. I think it sucks that our town has one going up as we speak. But, it’s suburban Chicago, Illinois’ finest conservative hypocrites.

If you want to do business… Boston is not the place to tick people off!

America became a nation of coffee drinkers after the Boston Tea party!

Chick-fil-a could well precipitate a revival in the “Where’s the beef” slogan! by the gay community. ;)

There is a big difference between “biblical principles” and what people consider “christian principles,” further confused by the fact that most ‘christians’ have never even read the whole book.
    -
One example that they refuse to acknowledge – in the bible, science and medicine will NOT heal you if you are ill, you must be ‘healed’ by your faith.
    -
To follow such priniciples, “chick” owners and staff need to sign off from medical assistance. Now, do you really see that happening?
    – NO, which is proof that they don’t follow “biblical principles”, they follow “SELECTED biblical principles.”
    -
CONGRATULATIONS to the mayor of Boston for taking a stand!!!

Congratulations to Mayor Menino. It’s nice to hear of a politician with the cojones to stand up to these bigots. It’s good to see someone who is interested in his constituents and not merely the money which these businesses wave around. Just goes to prove that there are some things that money can’t buy.. We could do with more like him in UK politics.

Their business is based on raising chickens in cruel and inhumane conditions. We shouldn’t be too surprised that a company that shows contempt for animals when it extends that contempt to humans.

Do you need any further reasons to go veggie?

I an say that \Boston has always been at the forefront of the fight for equality. Massachusetts was one of the first if not the first State to legalise Marriage Equality and was always at the forefront of Civil Rights. The Civil War fought over the abolishment of slavery started in Boston and when I lived there the battle to desegregate Bostons schools came to a head and was won in spite of opposition from the Roman Catholic Church and its minions. The then Mayor sent in the National Guard in order to ensure a smooth transition. Boston in other words has always shown the way.
